I stayed for a Friday night in November solo. As an elite Bonvoy member I was greeted and thanked for patronage and the front desk person was efficiently checking me in and arranging the appropriate amenities when, I presume, a supervisor came out and instead of chipping in to look after the one person behind me who was waiting to check in, she urged the person I was dealing with to cut my service short. That is neither something that was needed nor is it something a guest should see happening. The supervisor was inappropriate. I was provided an upgraded room that was clean and well maintained. Sleep was quite good and the simple sandwhich/breakfast food was above average for a Courtyard. There are two towers so if walking is an issue, ask for the South tower. The area is busy and crowded with very few food options outside nearly every fast food place you can think of... and a decent diner. I would stay there again for functional purposes. I would not consider it an escape or getaway hotel. However, they do have conference rooms and I can see holding small conferences there.

Booked here for 5 nights, when arrived (after 8hr flight) Ben at reception could not of been any more friendlier or more welcoming. Quick checkin, Ben mentioned he had noticed we were there for 5 nights so allocated us a room with a little more space (seating area, sofa table etc). He also asked us what our plans were and gave us a city map with highlighted areas. A great touch. Room was a good size with fridge, tea coffee facilities, both beds very comfortable. Bathroom good size with tub and overhead shower. Location was excellent close to the village and also 15min walk from Eaton Centre also subway station very close. The only negative we had was the lack of housekeeping services, it transpired room only cleaned every 3rd night. No information either in room or at checkin to warn us of this. This due to (yes you guessed it!) COVID, the cynic in me suggests its a cost saving exercise which the hotel trade has jumped onto as there is no reduction in room tariff for reduced services mmmmmmmm........... We did call down for fresh towels during our stay and they were delivered. This policy though did not dampen our overall high rating for this property I think because our first impressions and experience were so positive (shout out to Ben).
The best hotel value in Toronto

I'm in Toronto often. I've stayed in hotels across the price spectrum. This property is better-managed than many so-called luxury hotels. The team here was courteous, efficient, and friendly. The gym's spotless. The common areas are well-maintained. Wifi's fast. It seems like everyone's trying really hard - at a very challenging time - to create the best experience for guests. That's something I appreciate.

My previous business trips to Toronto all required me to be within a few minutes from YTZ so I never got to give the Courtyard a try. This time I finally got a chance to see what they have to offer. Having stayed at many locations in Toronto my bar was high, though I understand it is a select-service Courtyard so no luxury stuff was expected. All things considered, I was pleasantly impressed with the experience. I checked in fairly late in the evening. Ben assisted me with the check-in and I have to say he definitely started my stay on the right note. He was efficient, knowledgeable and personable. We had a nice conversation and it was such a relief and pleasure to have such a great experience checking into, mind you, a Courtyard, after an unexpected 5-hour drive. I was upgraded into a full suite which was very much appreciated. Though on the compact side, the suite was more than adequate for what I needed. Housekeeping went above and beyond with their added touch - handwritten note, eye mask, loofah, robes, slippers etc. which was very much appreciated. The suite was on the 4th floor so the view was meh, but that’s a minor loss at the very most considering the other pluses. I tried out the Bistro as well for breakfast - I normally find Courtyard’s Bistros uninspiring but the breakfast burrito was surprisingly top notch, and a great value for $6 - what can you get with $6 at McD’s nowadays! All around I found the Courtyard surprisingly underrated. Yes the hard product ain’t no Ritz or JW, but I truly appreciated the effort by the hotel team to add to the experience. This will be my new go-to in Toronto for sure especially on leisure trips!
