Another amazing stay...

Reviewed 29 july, 2022

We couldn’t wait to return to Sentry Mead this year to see our friendly hosts (Gayle and Mark) again and to see the results of all the hard work they’ve done during the winter months to renovate and update the whole place. We were not disappointed!! The welcome was as warm as ever, and the hotel looked even more amazing than before, with all areas looking spic and span. Our stylish second floor bedroom (“Totland”) had amazing views over the front garden towards the sea. Although temperatures were around 30deg outside, the room was lovely and cool. The new super-king size bed was extremely comfortable, with a new duvet and pillows. Our en-suite room had armchairs, tea/coffee making facilities, a large screen Smart TV (including complimentary channels like Netflix), bath robes, etc. There was also a useful USB socket alongside the bed for charging mobile phones etc. Soundproofing between rooms is excellent, and we were not disturbed at all by noise. There were some “nice touches” too, such as a delicious slice of cake being left in the room on arrival, fresh milk daily in the fridge, biscuits, chocolates, and a bottle of complimentary water. We stayed during the extreme heat wave of 2022 and our hosts also provided complimentary bottles of ice cold water near reception to keep guests cool. As on our previous stay, breakfast was amazing, with a superb selection of goodies from the buffet, plus a great range of cooked items. Mark does the cooking most days and his breakfasts are delicious. If you are hungry you can have extra eggs, bacon, sausage etc. We were so full after breakfast each day, that we never needed lunches during our stay! Service was excellent too & Bridget was as friendly and efficient as ever. Mark and Gayle keep an “honesty bar” which works extremely well. The guest lounges (sitting room, conservatory etc) have also been refurbished to a high standard, but it was so hot during our stay that we relaxed at tables outside on the patio (which overlooks the huge front garden) each evening rather than sitting indoors. The hotel does not provide evening meals, but there are a couple of excellent restaurants on the seafront within walking distance, and numerous pubs with restaurants a short drive from the hotel. We are really looking forward to our next visit...

Excellent accomodation in a quiet island location.

This was our third visit to Sentry Mead but the first with the new owners. Our previous experiences were very good but the hotel upgrade and warm hospitality were second to none. Nothing was too much trouble. Thank you for another great stay.

Relaxing holiday

Reviewed 22 july, 2022

We had a short break here and it started well with a friendly welcome from one of the owners. We were then shown around the hotel, and to our room, which made us feel very much at home. There was a coffee maker in the corridor outside our room, which was very handy. The room itself was very well equipped, with a huge King size bed, which was very comfortable, and helped us relax at night. The breakfast was awesome, with a choice of fruit, pastry, cerial and then finally any cooked breakfast you could want. There is a huge choice of drinks, from tea, espresso, filter coffee, juice, water and milk. The owners do offer an honesty bar, which shows a lot of trust in the residents, but goes to the homely feeling they are trying to get. We loved the option of bringing a take away back at night, and there are plates and cutlery available. We loved having the choice of relaxing in the sitting room, conservatory or on the patio, with access to a lovely garden The hotel is a short walk from the beach and restaurant, which you would need to book in advance. We did get told there will be a new restaurant on the pier next year. We loved the stay here so much, that we have already booked again next year.
