A huge variety of rooms... ask before booking
Nice old building with charm of small town Umbria. Trevi is a great village to wander in with many views. No views from the hotel, but of this charming village. Our room was small and unlike the others in our group. It was clean and had good wifi. The restaurant/ breakfast is very satisfactory. This hotel seems to have groups stay often. Nice staff.
Wonderful location in the town of Trevi
We stayed here for 6 nights and thoroughly enjoyed our stay! We were on an organized tour and although we normally like to visit different restaurants for dinner, the food served was fantastic at this hotel. 4 courses every day with great variation - they all tasted wonderful. All the rooms are different and quite charming - we had a room overlooking the small pool. The bed was rather hard at first glance, but we slept very well there. We would definitely recommend this hotel if you are looking for somewhere out of the ordinary.
A huge deception!
Without informing us upfront, we were accommodated in an an anex building, in an apartment on the last floor, with no lift. That was lot of stairs climbing. The apartment had nothing to do with the room we booked. Though it was bigger, with two rooms and an unequipped kitchen (with a fridge though), the rusty bed frames and rotten furniture was anything but antique in the stylish sense of the word. Although the anex palazzo was much quieter than the main building (on the first night we were all by ourselves, which was a bit spooky), it had the inconvenience that we had to dress up for outside weather to get to the main building for breakfast (it's a 1-minute walk, nothing extra, but in rainy weather not how I want to start my day). The breakfast was okay but we had hard time to find a table each morning since the staff couldn't keep up with cleaning the tables. Plastic glasses were used for the orange juice - not only it looks cheap but is contrary to all trend to ban plastic in Europe. There was daily cleaning, but ringing the door bell at 8.45 to clean the apartment is a bit too early. With all these details this place was very far from matching our expectations. It would only take so little to polish up this hotel - just informing your guests upfront (or asking their permission!) to accommodate them elsewhere, cleaning a bit later, using decent glasses at breakfast, faster breakfast service...
They just rest on their central location
We actually came to book a room and have a coffee before. But the waitress didn't serve us for almost half an hour - although we complained after some minutes, she preferred to chat with her colleague. Obviously, they benefit from their central location in Trevi and don't care about service and hospitality at all. Finally we booked another hotel ouside the center
Don´t miss it ! – it´s unique !
This hotel – Hotel Antica Dimora alla Rocca - is unique ! …. Located in the small streets of the old town of Trevi ( Umbria ). Every room is different – equipped, like you live in a (ancient) royal Castle. Some rooms with heigh ceilings, others with low ceiling with massive ceiling wooden beams. The restaurant is located in the basement – where you can enjoy your dinner or breakfast - under ceiling arches ! …or you can sit outside in front of the hotel and enjoy a cocktail ! and the staff ??? … they do everything to make you stay an adventure ! If you want to stay in a quiet town and experience the local Italy atmosphere, you must stay here, in the old town of Trevi, and the region of Umbria, is just so pretty, with Olive trees overall, and the mountains of the Apennine close to you - The heart of Italy !
