RESIDENCE DEL MARE

Basic accomodation despite being quite pricey. At least it is clean. There is no staff at night so, if you need something or have any issues, you’re on you own. And that’s was what happened to us: the customer in the room close to us was watching tv with an extremely high volume and I didn’t sleep at all. Desperate, at 4.00 am, I checked online the telephone of the residence. Once I called, there was a registered message giving a mobile number to call in case of need. I called the number but the person on the other side couldn’t hear so I sent a whatsup txt. Well, only past 4.00 am, this person switched off tv. It’s been a nightmare. The accomodation is really uncomfortable because there is a lot of noise from the street too. Parking is another down side. Along our stay the parking lots closer to the residence had been shut down due to a cruise arriving on the next morning so we had to park quite far. On check out the clerk didn’t even bother to say something about what happened during the night. Very very disappointing.

We needed a central location to come back to midday and rest after museum exploring . The Residence was close to all the major museums and having a kitchen was perfect for light meals purchased at gastronom Morgante on nearby via del Pescheria . Lift to 5th floor gave us a nice view over the Trieste rooftops to the sea.

We had a top floor appartment with a very nice view overlooking the roofs. Self contained and very spacious, we were spared by the nightlife which is just down a block. Extremely well located, we could visit most of the town by foot. The staff is very helpful and genuinely friendly. The minor noticeable flaws were the lazy A/C and a mediocre quality mattress. So nothing really that should keep you away. One important detail: they do not own a garage but have an agreement with an independent garage which is uphill from the hotel. The garage closes at 9pm. Their service is very nice and pretty mandatory considering how difficult it is to park in Trieste. Still, you must be ready to adapt.

It is a nice location in the city centre. The apt was small but manageable. The shower is so small you can hardly shower. In 5 days, they only cleaned ONCE!!! The room had a funny sweet smell. I do not know where it came from, but it was annoying. There were supposed to be heating but it was not working, so it was so cold that it was almost impossible to stay in the room and not get sick. But, since I saw other hotels in Trieste for that price (omg), I would again choose this one but would demand cleaning every day!

We booked an apartment here through hotels.com and it was brilliant. The block is very conveniently situated in the centre of Trieste. Helpful girl on reception, very large and airy apartment with plenty of kitchen utensils although we didn't use them. Spotlessly cleaned every day with lots of storage space. Not sure if we got a special deal but very reasonably priced. Highly recommend.
