Friendly and very nice stay

We stayed one night here during our Mosel River cycling tour. The service was great and very friendly - and we did indeed feel very welcome. The hotel is very well kept and we enjoyed our stay very much.
Thoroughly unacceptable behavior by this Guest House's owners

We wanted to pay the room charge (105 euros) by Visa. We were so appalled by the owner's reaction I just feel sorry for people who have to deal with these types of totally obnoxious individuals. After they demanded cash (the cash machine in the village did not work for us) so we put what money we had together and, though we were only a couple euros short, the man threatened us, took photos of our car license, wanted to remove our luggage from the trunk, and keep trying to get in our car (perhaps to take something). My wife was unnerved and shaken so badly. I finally got myself together to count all the coins which I had in the car and gave the balance to him. When we were leaving he said a lot of other stupid things but we didn't respond and were just glad to be rid of him. Actually, we saw another guest(?) was upset as she was leaving. Who, in the world, as a mature person for two euros makes such a scene? We have traveled for decades all over the world but we've never seen such bad behavior!
Functional but zero atmosphere

We stayed one night as part of a cycling holiday. On arrival the owner was curt and uninterested. Her dog gave us a warm tail wag. The room was adequate although the pillows were lumpy. The shower was good and strong. Although the hotel said restaurant outside, the owner told us it was closed. We found somewhere to eat nearby. Breakfast was served in an adjoining building and was fine. This is one of those hotels quickly forgotten.
Jumped in without looking first

We arrived in Trittenheim on the bus in a rain shower. We had caught the bus to avoid getting wet while walking the Mosel hiking trail. This place was right by the bus stop and we dived in. A lady received us and said there was a room. The price was OK and breakfast is included. Our room was small and the bathroom minuscule. In the evening, we asked about dinner as it was still wet. They informed us they only did cold snack food to accompany weingut. However, they did call another restaurant nearby and reserve a table for us as it was a Saturday night. As this was quite nice, we went back the next night too. Breakfast is served in an adjoining building and the makings of the breakfast are put out on each table. Seemed a bit odd but all tasted OK. All in all no real complaints but the place lacked warmth and friendliness. It seems to do a lot of Mosel cycling packages as baggage was delivered and collected each day by courier transport. Trittenheim is a nice little village and there are probably much more pleasant places to stay if you trouble to look around first!

We arrived to find a hand written sign stuck to the door saying "back 5 minutes", which seemed to have become a permanent fixture of the door. Coming back a couple of hours later, the sign was still there and the hotel still locked up. Rang the number and someone appeared a few minutes later and let us in. The room was clean and of a good size, but the whole hotel felt neglected. Dead plants on the deck outside the room, shabby paint on the deck wall, and faded tatty flags (which I think shows a certain disregard or pride for your country). WiFi signal was intermittent and unreliable. Unsurprisingly we were the only guests that night. The worst hotel we had during the whole trip, look elsewhere.
