Nice hotel with a beautiful view & landscaping

Reviewed 14 may, 2022

This hotel doesn't look like much from the main road, but the view from the rooms and the pool area is absolutely beautiful. There is a resort fee, but they are very clear about that up front, and it is quite common for hotels in this area. We had a king room on the third floor, and it was very quiet and comfortable. We were delighted to see quails, hummingbirds, various doves, and spiny lizards in the gardens! The breakfast was delicious, (especially the mimosas!) and the staff were all very courteous and kind. It was also really nice to have a restaurant on the property for dinner if we didn't feel like going out. We enjoyed visiting the west (Tuscon mountain) side of Saguaro National park, so this hotel location was especially great for that, as opposed to something located more inside of the city itself. All in all, a really pleasant experience, and we would stay here again. Thank you!

Nice place to stay and a great morning breakfast

Reviewed 9 may, 2022

The location of La Posada is great for those interested in the Oro Valley & Foothills area. Everything you might want is within a short drive. The hotel itself is in good condition albeit the rooms are on the small side and the bathroom is a one-at-a-time operation. I think it is the smallest bath area I have ever run across. The good news is there is a cantina attached and it has a good happy hour, and a decent dinner menu. The surprise was the delicious complimentary breakfast. Fresh bagels, hot and spicey scrambled eggs, and some thick cut bacon that was to die for. The outdoor seating area provides a panorama of the local topography which is impressive. Some plusses and some minuses - but on the whole a nice place to stay.

Rude Staff. Zero Solutions. Motel 6 Quality as Resort Prices

Reviewed 18 april, 2022

Worst hotel in Tucson. The staff is rude, and will not assist or attempt to solve a problem. The rooms are glorified Motel 6 style. The parking lot is dark and unsafe. The resort fee is expensive, excessive, and charged every night. Save your money and stay at a nicer hotel (any hotel is nicer) with a staff that actually cares for their guests. If the staff gets ruffled, they will call security. Bad bad motel.

We moved to another hotel

Reviewed 6 april, 2022

It says a lot when you are so dissatisfied with a hotel that you move to one nearby in the middle of your vacation, which we did. We had complaints both about the management and about the hotel itself. About the hotel itself, one complaint is the bathroom is so small that there isn’t counter space for two toiletry bags plus fresh towels. This could be solved by adding a shelf under the sink to hold the towels. Another complaint is about the placement of exterior lights. We reserved a room on the uppermost floor with a balcony that faced east so we could watch the sunrise. But we discovered the balconies all have exterior overhead lights that cannot be turned off; those lights interfere with the sunrise. The hotel is understaffed so that if the front desk person has to step away to do something the front desk is left unattended and the guests have to wait, wondering how long the wait will be. Like many hotels, this one no longer has daily maid service. A sign on the bathroom mirror says service will be on request or on the third day. When I requested maid service for the following day I was informed that I wasn’t yet due. Although she did schedule the service, I was surprised to get pushback at my request. Don’t overlook that this hotel has a “resort fee” of $22 per night. This is because it provides internet, flat-screen TVs and a pool. Hardly unusual. The only special things here were an attractive headboard, interesting tile on the sink in the too-tiny bathroom, and mimosas two days a week with breakfast. Don’t think you are getting mimosas every day. What finally drove us away was the morning the grounds crew came with their mowers and blowers. At 6:30 a.m., waking up everyone in the facility. That was the last straw.

Your experience here depends on your room location.

Reviewed 31 march, 2022

Staying at this historic hotel had it ups and downs. It's grounds and lobby are beautiful, however your room may be disappointing. Avoid first floor rooms (see other reviews)! We disliked our first floor room that we couldn't move from as the hotel was sold out. Our second night stay in a third floor room was really enjoyable. Having booked our room while on the road we didn't know much about the hotel. Apparently we got the last room available. The room smelled of mildew and ant killer. It had no windows to open, no exhaust fan in the bathroom. When the AC didn't work, an employee brought a new wall unit and switched them out. The room was stuffy. After complaining about the room we asked for a room with windows that opened and were given a 3rd floor room with sliding glass doors. The bathroom window also opened allowing for a cross circulation. Ideally you can first look at a room before booking it.
