Beautiful hotel in a great location

The hotel is beautiful. We were in a two bedroom suite with a balcony with a jungle view. The beds were comfortable and we love the showers. We had an issue with the air conditioning in one bedroom, but they were extremely responsive and resolved the issue quickly. The beach was beautiful, and Emilio and Miguel were great at bringing us food and drinks. The location is great, with lots of restaurants within walking distance. Our room was near the road and there was some loud music from across the street at night. We sleep with earplugs so it wasn’t a problem for us, but if you are sensitive to noise you may want to request a room further from the beach. The rooms are cleaned daily and there is a turndown service at night. The entire staff was very friendly and helpful. We would definitely recommend Ana Y Jose!
Sleepless in Tulum

Ana y Jose is actually a pretty nice resort on a great stretch of beach. I do wish I could recommend it but it was impossible to get a good night's sleep there, due to the loud nightclub across the street that doesn't stop until after 3am. We stayed in one of the rooms furthest away from the street and closest to the beach and still the thumping music was just impossible to ignore, even with dosing ourselves with Advil PM and inserting ear plugs every night. Because our room was close to the beach and therefore in a more trafficked area, we were awoken every morning at 6:30am by the irrigation system (or something like it) switching on and staff sweeping the pathways right outside our window. Also, our room had no bathroom door, which made the inevitable 'Mexico tummy" experience much more intimate than either of us would have preferred. Beyond that, dinner in the restaurant was overpriced and nothing special; breakfast outside offered a gorgeous view but was ruined by swarms of wasps as soon as the jam hit the table. And we were borderline harassed by the woman under their employ who was trying to sell us on the 'opportunity' to learn more about the hotel and other rooms. Even telling her we had no intention of ever again staying there did not deter her. Finding a good place to stay in Tulum can feel impossible. I definitely don't recommend Ana y Jose and would suggest finding a place further away from the the hotel zone (which this hotel is in the middle of) if you want to be able to sleep in peace.
Noise too loud. Impossible to sleep

It’s ridiculous to be offered an expensive luxury product and then read the hotel management’s replies that Tulum has a unique personality where everyone expresses themselves so it’s ok to not sleep because the music is too loud. Recent reviews are completely true. You simply cannot sleep in this hotel. Either they isolate the noise out of the rooms or they price the rooms like the hostel they’ve become.
Do not stay at Ana y Jose if you want to relax

It makes no sense to go all the way to Tulum and spend $600 a night for a nice oceanfront room if you are unable to sleep and rest. Reception lady said all rooms complain about noise There is a club next door and the sound won’t let you sleep. The whole room trembles with the bass from the club. Service is good and so is the food. They used to include a full breakfast which is now only coffee, fruit and bread. Small details… Booked a massage that was so short that that they had to offer a new one the next day

OK place by the beach ruined by rip off payment tourist practice. My bill for the day came to 5100 mexican. I always use a revolut card to pay that tells me how much has been debited in real time. I was asked to pay using a weird, large payment terminal that secretly took payment in my home currency (at a dreadful exchange rate - making me pay almost 6000 mexican equivalent!) without telling me and without giving me the option to pay in local mexican even though the receipt printed as if I had paid local mexican. I queried this with the manager who refused to refund and let me pay with a normal payment terminal that was visible at reception. Rude, ripping people off - doesn't deserve to be in business.
