Recently my husband, son, and I went to Tyler TX. We wanted to stay in a Bed and Breakfast there. Got to the place and checked in and unpacked then decided to go to lunch. Our son Taven, who has ABS to his left arm, was asleep on daddy’s shoulder. We were stopped on our way out because the owner noticed our son. She then went on to tell us that they do not allow children under the age of 13. Apparently, we missed that policy on their page. She said she had nothing for him to sleep on and I said we have his pack n play. She then says she doesn’t have highchairs, and I said we have his highchair. She asked if we read her list of policies and my husband said he must have missed that. She kept going on about not having anything for babies and again I said we have all of that. She checked her reservation list and saw that it showed we had a 1-year-old with us. She then tells us she wished we had called her to notify her of this. 1. Your site at booking allowed us to reserve it. 2. You are the one who reviews all reservations so you should have noticed the issue upfront and called us. My husband then said we can process a refund right now and go elsewhere. She said no we can try this. She just didn’t want to bother the other people in the house. I said he is teething right now, and he will just sleep a lot. Her response was, “Oh because you have him drugged”? I said oh “Um no, I just give him Ibuprofen to help with the pain. This is just what he does when he doesn’t feel well”. And this is where I had no idea what to do. She then reached out and grabbed my son’s left arm and said oh he’s missing an appendage. I calmly (no idea why or how) said yes, he was born that way. I had ABS. She said she never heard of that before and so I explained it. She then stared at all of us and said Well congratulations, I guess. At that point she let us leave and we found another place to stay. I have never had another person reach out and touch my son and comment on how his hand is missing. I was so uncomfortable and upset I had no idea what to say or do. No person or child should ever be touched by a stranger and have their Lucky Fin pointed out like something horrible happened. We ended up being charged $50 as a deposit. My husband called the Manor (because we were told we would be refunded) to talk with the owner and she said it’s non-refundable. He asked “Even though you were in the wrong as well”? and she said yes. She was very rude and disrespectful to my husband and hung up on him. I DO NOT recommend staying at this place.
We enjoyed our weekend stay at the Woldert-Spence Manor.

We enjoyed our stay at the Woldert-Spence Manor. The inn features antique furniture with tasteful Victorian style decor. There are porches and a deck to relax outside overlooking a shaded and nicely landscaped garden area. The breakfast is just wonderful! Loads of creativity in the presentation and tastes so good! The hosts, Mike and Barbara, are very friendly and willing to accommodate the needs and desires of their guests in any way they possibly can. A highlight is that they are willing to sit down with guests at breakfast enjoy a cup of coffee and conversation. Very pleasant experience.
Lovely place to relax

Barb and Mike are the friendliest owners. Breakfast is amazing and plentiful. House is well taken care of. We enjoyed soaking in the Jacuzzi which is hot! Beautiful place to relax close to DFW. We will be back!

We had such a wonderful Valentine’s weekend get-away at this charming B&B located blocks from everything. We arrived around 7 pm after innkeepers left and everything was arranged for us to let ourselves in and make ourselves at home. Easy parking and access, beautiful natural gardens, sitting areas, koi pond, and gorgeous fountains. There was a couple in the hot tub that told us it was amazing!
Our suite, William Woldert, was on the main floor and ohhh so comfy! It was chilly so we lit the gas fireplace which was one of our favorite features. Our queen size bed had freshly ironed cotton sheets (WOW!). The bathroom was roomy with plenty of storage. Standing shower and pedestal sink. Plenty of hot water, shampoo and soap. I appreciated the facial wipes as I’d forgotten mine.
Closet space and hangers were plentiful as were dresser drawer space. Very small and awkwardly mounted TV near the bathroom door, but it works just fine and we were grateful for a B&B with a TV!!
We felt so “at home” here! The innkeepers, Barb and Mike, knock themselves out making sure you have all you need. Sharing the refrigerator in the hall works perfectly, water cooler had hot water and plenty of various tea bags, coffee, Keurig maker, treats. No ice, but innkeepers are happy to fill an ice bucket upon request.
Let’s talk about BREAKFAST!!! Presentation was beautiful in the formal dining room. Started with a delightful cup of fruit with a dollop of yogurt. Main course the first morning was a large flakey pastry filled with deliciousness! Almost like an omelet inside?? There were homemade muffins and biscuits and a green salad as well. Coffee, orange juice, water. You will skip lunch!
The next morning was the same lovely fruit, AMAZING bacon and ham quiche with homemade muffins and a side green salad topped with fresh fruit.
We left the Manor today with two new friends we felt we’d known all our lives, our innkeepers Barb and Mike!! There was much more we wanted to do and see in Tyler and cannot wait to go back.

My wife and I spent our wedding night here. Absolutely wonderful B&B. The home is historic in appearance and decorated with beautiful furnishings but has all the modern conveniences (wifi, etc). We asked for a bottle of champagne for our room and also dropped off a "go bag" as we went straight from our wedding. Wonderful breakfast the next morning!! This is THE place to stay in Tyler!!
