Quaint off the beaten path getaway
After arriving in Portofino by ferry, sunburnt and tired we were a little discouraged to realize that the hostel was not quite as close as we anticipated from HostelWorlds review. However, after contacting the host, Sonia, she made the bus, train, bus trip to her home as easy as it could be. Sonia was warm, welcoming and open minded. She helped us plan out day trips with ease and accessibility. Uscia is off the beaten path with very little English speaking locals who are willing to help and to try their English as best as my poor Italian. The B&B was exactly what we were looking for in a nice part of the coastline. Authentic food and genuine good time during our stay as well as hanging out with a gem like Sonia
Surprise delight!
After an anxious drive up a narrow and winding 9k road we found this delightful little sanctuary with am incredible panoramic view and loads of charm! The host was incredibly warm and welcoming and the room was all you could need. We only stayed one night on our way to cost a friend in Bra but after being in the big city this small and friendly town was exactly what we needed! At night sit out on the garden and relax with amazing scenery and fireflies blinking amongst the vegetable patches. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, thankyou!
Amazing hostel, beautiful garden, close to Portofino Park
I stayed in this beautiful hostel for two days, and the experience couldn't be better. It has a really nice garden, where you can relax and see an amazing panoramic view of the valley. I had a really nice meal with other guests of the hostel and we enjoyed good music from one of them. The owner is really friendly, nice y makes you feel like home. Totally recommended!!!
Sonia and Rifugio Uscio, best of the best
Rifugio Uscio is an open minded place where everybody feels welcome. Sonia is a great person and worker, strong woman and great party companion. Rifugio is charming, clean and has the best view! 100% Recommended.
A nice place with sub-par dinner.
We were trekking with a group of friends, the place at first is pretty nice, unfortunately the manager was all about money. I do understand that we are paying for the service but imagine once you come all tired and people start asking for money(its to like we were running away) but she always seemed anxious. I must say she is sweet as a person, but we didn't feel welcome , we felt very anxious all the time. Moreover, she had also said that she shall prepare the menu for dinner, unfortunately we were welcomed with a cold plate of pasta! and moreover the second dish was not sparse, we were left hungry after the dinner and filled our stomachs by eating bread and oil. The breakfast the next day was very nice, she was sweet then. But I guess it was too late for us to be relaxed. It was one of those places where we needed to leave to be relaxed.
