Construction MESS
We booked two rooms in a block with a hockey team. The Marriott website indicates exterior construction. This is misleading. Exterior construction means many of the windows are boarded up, including rooms they are letting out. Air conditioners have birds' nests, and squawking will waken you. Nails litter the outside of the building. The indoor pool is part of the construction, and is a cesspool. Construction plans littered the lobby. The elevator worked part of the time, and sometimes the lights inside were out. The rooms must be next on the remodel, and are very outdated. My 13 year old had never seen such a "thick" flat screen. We probably had two of the better rooms (214 and 218), but even they were well below Marriott standards. The rooms were dirty. My door was smeared with grease (housekeeping did quickly clean it for me before ruining my jacket). The bathtub had hair that wasn't mine on the walls. The single pot coffee maker did not have mugs or coffee. The toiletries lacked lotion. It was like they didn't really expect guests to actually stay at this hotel. The rooms did not have safes, but I guess there was one at the front desk. We're Marriott Titanium Elite. I have never stayed at a more disappointing Marriott.
Not goos
I stayed at this hotel several times, and the reason I keep coming back cause it’s the only Marriott in this area . It’s pretty bad !! I stay here cause I use my points , but I’m thinking to start staying at nearby hotels next time I come to the area . Room smell so bad ( mold , humidity, .. ) , carpet is disgusting , hallway is smelly .. I’m not a picky guest , but Marriott could do better than this .
Poor Service, Mold Concerns
Room was not serviced, and it smelled musty in the room and in the hall. This property has a stucco exterior and it is an older property. It may certainly need mold remediation. I will not stay at this property in the future.
Grossly overcharged and terrible customer service
I was almost overcharged by over $400 for a one night stay at this hotel. I had to call the hotel three times to get it resolved and the desk agent acted like they were doing me a favor by 'giving me a refund' for the overcharge. I then had to talk with the hotel manager due to a $690 hold that they had put on my credit card. I was told that errors do happen but that the error was in fact my fault because I had updated my reservation 'umpteen times'. {Insert changing the reservation once for 'umpteen'.} I still don't have an invoice from the hotel for the exact amount that they are charging but do have four other invoices of various amounts. Beware of providing this hotel with your credit card unless you want to waste your time tracking down hotel folios and checking your credit card statements.
Clean hotel; needs renovations.
Our stay was two nights. Upon entering the premises was clean, neat and inviting. Professional and courteous welcome; they even welcomed up with bottle of water, which is a nice perk. Room was neat, clean, and smelled clean. All amenities were provided for; we were not lacking anything. The bathroom sink was very small;tough to fit toiletries in that area. Pretty quiet throughout the night.Breakfast was a small bistro with limited menu items and not complimentary. We did not partake in that; we ate off-site. Plenty of places around for meals. We did use the fitness center. It was outfitted with two treadmills, an elliptical, and weights (that was nice to see). When we used the fitness room throughout our stay the water cooler was empty and the water fountains directly outside the center were inoperable. This hotel was OK. If you have stayed in new or newer places you may notice that this Utica Hampton Inn could use some updating.
