White Heart

Great location near to the station – just a 2 minute walk. Very friendly owner Lasse who greeted us warmly, gave us a welcome drink and helped us plan our stay. Breakfast was plentiful – Sri Lankan style served on a sweet table and chairs on a small terrace outside our room. Wifi was really good. Room was very basic indeed. No aircon - somehow I didn’t pick this up when booking. We found it very hot during the night but didn’t want to open the windows for fear of mosquitoes (although they do provide a net under which you can sleep). There was a bar down the road which pumped out music till the early hours. When that stopped a load of dogs started fighting and howling in the road. Maybe we got unlucky but we didn’t sleep well. If you are on a budget and you want to be near the station this is a good choice. If you have more to spend you might appreciate the aircon and peace elsewhere.

Don't expect luxury, the accomodation here is basic. However, our room was clean and comfortable and with a big mosquito net, fan and small terrace. The location is perfect, just 1 minute from the train station and 5 minutes to all the shops and restaurants in town. The family who own this guest house are very friendly and the freshly cooked breakfast was great (different selection every day). Overall I thought this offered good value for the price paid.

I booked my room at the White Heart guesthouse via booking.com and for sure did not regret it. It is family run and ideally located fifty meters from the train station, so no need for any hassle with annoying three wheeler drivers. My host awaited me on the steps of his premises. I had a free curd with honey for welcome and was shown my spacious room. Every room has its own little terrace with a table and chairs, its own bathroom (hot water!) and a fan, along with another table with two chairs inside the room. When I arrived there were guests from another guesthouse who were here for eating, so in the evening I also ordered my meal at White Heart. It was cooked by his wife, local style and good. I was asked for my itinary and given helpful tips instead of offering me overpriced tours. If I ever come back to Ella, I will surely book again with White Heart.

Etablissement très bien situé, à côté de la gare, à proximité de la rue principale mais au calme. Les petits dejeuners sont copieux et la chambre correcte. Le plus pour nous a été le parc pour enfants à côté où nos enfants ont pu faire une pause jeux.

Arrivés à Ella, Lila nous a accueillis divinement bien! La chambre était spacieuse, toute équipée, ventilateur, eau chaude, linge propre,... pour un prix très raisonnable. Toute la famille de Lila a su nous faire adorer Ella alors qu'il a plu les 2 jours! Nous avons passé de vrais bons moments lors des repas (délicieux). White Hart est incontournable! ;)
