Cheap, good stay near ruins

I stayed here 2 nights to explore surrounding areas. PROs: This was a nice mid-level hotel. I'm not sure what the usual price is, but I booked it for $54 a night, and at that price, it was a bargain! The photos of the big rooms are accurate - clean and white with a large sliding glass window opening onto a generous balcony overlooking the large pool area and jungle. I liked the long bathroom counter. It's close to the Uxmal ruins - 3 min in a car or about a 25 min walk. We bought ice for a couple bucks from the restaurant to pack some drinks in a cooler for a day trip on the Ruta Puuk. A/C and Wi-Fi worked. CONs: No mini-fridge. The beds were a little hard, but they had a pillow top in an effort to soften them. I never saw any staff in the pool area, but I wasn't out there. The pool was really murky. Restaurant service was really slow and the food was not very good. The shower head wasn't great. In addition, the water pressure was pretty low for the toilet and shower. At first, the toilet would not flush, and we hadn't even used it yet. After a few hours, it flushed, but after that, my trust in that toilet felt tenuous at best. There's no elevator, so you'll need to schlep your bags up the stairs yourselves. All in all, it was a comfortable for such a cheap stay near the Uxmal ruins. I'd stay there again.
A quiet hotel, with geat views of Uxmal

We stayed in room 300, which had great views of the Uxmal ruins peeping above the trees. The room was spacious and clean. There was a fridge in the room and air conditioning, although both of these were noisy. We relied on the ceiling fan to keep us cool at night. The restaurant staff were very attentive and helpful and the food was good and reasonably priced. The pool area was well maintained. Overall the hotel was very quiet. The Uxmal site is a short walk away. and is very interesting to visit. There are several other nearby sites on the Puuc route, but only Kabah is currently open due to Covid restrictions.

Went to this hotel because it was a trip down memory lane when this hotel was a Club Med branchehotel. Well, it looked like it was'nt renovated since then. The staff was extremely helpfull though, we were almost the only ones, but the rooms and the amenities were not so extremely.

The property is kept up and about ten minutes to Uxmal Ruins. Good for birding the grounds and nearby. The restaurant is down stairs where I tried the spaghetti with melted cheese and thinly cut chicken. I loved the eggs with chaya for breakfast. Laundry service isn't cheap, but convenient.
Mexican Gas Station Scam

Mexican Gas Station scam: 1st the Uxmal Resort canceled our better rate “Pay on arrival” reservation 1 day before we arrived. Left the txt message want us to “rebook again” if we wish to stay with them. We were driving whole day through Yucatán jungle, the internet was not always available. Out of safety sack, we rebook the room with prepaid choice with “with the same credit card information which was the reason they cancel our first reservation.” The reservation went through immediately, only we found out later with Expedia agent, it was a 40% price hike and our “canceled” reservation was still good. 5 hours, 5 different Expedia agents all try to reason with Hotel management they should refund the second unnecessary and misleading instruction caused “not-refundable “ reservation, Hotel insist nothing wrong at their side when they mistakenly “verified” our credit card was “not valid.” And the extra $25 dollars difference Hotel is only willing to waste us 5 more hours, but not just do a smart management to take this amount off our potential diner expense. By the way, Wed 10am, 11am, nobody answer the phone calls, not even Expedia agents can reach them, 7:30 pm , manager was not at property already, while we are checking in, 4:20pm, no manager available. The front desk can only collect the payment, nothing else’s they can make any decision on site. A manager appeared lady showed us, not providing assistance to our situation, having a few words Spanish with front desk man, and just left us there keep circling around. Their Room is in nonsense condition, two indoor/ outdoor chairs are with two 1 foot diameter damage, cheap towels, and dirty bathroom counter. ( We took all the photos to prove to any party what we experienced.) The room only worth under $30 rate, with $75 what we paid, we found another 5 star world class Hotel 3 min down the road which where we actually sleep tonight. Before pandemic, I was a road warrior, since 2006, this is the second time I ran into such strange Hotel practice. We will never visit this Hotel for sure, 4 hours on the phone and internet, 2 hours on site, and managers always disappeared in this 6 hours, nothing front desk can deescalate, front desk suggest I make another 4th and 5 th phone calls to Expedia to ask for full refund, even they already denied the full refund on the 3rd phone call from Expedia. Totally incapable management team, for $75, the Hotel rather for me to expose every thing we experienced. The only thing we think Hotel can do for us now, is an formal apology for wasting us 6 hours on our vacation time, and a full refund to be responsible wrong message us regarding the cancelation and asking credit card information over a non-secured message platform. ( I haven’t seen anything this level of “bad” roughly 16-17 years already. )
