A countriside hostel
Despite the fact that this place got a number of favourable reviews and a high rating, I found that the overall structure is old, lacking of modern comforts. For example the bathroom (i.e. toilet and shower), was in a small area adjoined to the room assigned and not in the room itself and, most importantly, WITHOUT HEATHING, meaning that there were no radiators at all in this small area, so that to take a shower was an overly refreshing experience. The basin instread was in the middle of the room. So to have a proper dressing one had to shuffle from the room to the small area outside of the room and viceversa. The family which runs the establishment is a young couple with kids, plus in-laws. Of course they try to be polite and ready to satisfy the customers needs: professionality is something else! Breakfast is very ordinary and of poor quality, but enought and in line with the local abits. The first morning I had breakfast at around 7.30 a.m. and in the breakfast room there was a dozen of local workers (who evidently have a special accomodation with the establishment) and monopolized the entire room by talking loudly the one to the other and going in and out to smoke cigarettes and drink coffee, so that the room (which is never overheated) became soon very cold. This pack was the same that in the evening drank beer at the bar. I did not feel like trying to have dinner (from 5 to 8 p.m.) in the place. All in all it is an isolated place, resembling more a (bad) countriside B&B, rather than a hotel; for 3 nights you can survive, but why you have to complicate your life, when there are many other hotels in town? Prices are not cheap for what you get and despite the fact that they have your credit card as guarantee, the want to be paid upfront, before they give you the key of the room.
Great beds
Very friendly and helpful staff. The rooms are big and the beds are very comfortable. We received a key to the front door, as they would close the door at nine, but did not need it afterall, eventhough we came in later. At the breakfast you could say everything important was there, but it needed just that little bit extra, I think. Could be, because it was not very busy that night we were there. Also I was dissaponted, that we have to pay for the parking in there own parking lot. Still the hotel can surtenly be recommended.
Beautiful Property
We were a guest of this property for four days last month. It was a great time and things were so much planned and organized that coming back, was really difficult for us. Warm welcome at the reception, clean property, beautiful rooms, lovely garden, great washroom, special food and efficient staff ... all this was enough to leave a great impression. I would highly recommend it to my other friends and family members.
A good Place to Stay
Having just returned from our honeymoon at the Huis Ter Geul in Valkenburg. On arrival we received a very warm and friendly welcome from the owner and his wife. Their recommendations on what to see and do in Valkenburg was spot on. The Hotel itself was spotless, warm, clean and overall we would thoroughly recommend both staying at the hotel and visiting Valkenburg for the underground christmas markets. Valkenburg is a lovely place to base yourself for exploring the local area including Maastricht and Aachen, although christmas market in Aachen isnt a patch on the underground one in the big cave. Thank you to our hosts for a thoroughly enjoyable stay, and there will be no hesitation to book again in the future. Mark and Debbie
Super hotel
Zeer gastvrij hotel. Lekkere bedden. Goed ontbijt met keuze uit diverse broodsoorten, divers beleg, koffie en thee en jus d’orange. Ruime kamers met een heerlijke douche. Zeker voor herhaling vatbaar als we weer een weekendje naar Valkenburg gaan.
