More about the hotel
"Where the architecture blends in the nature" 🏞 ❤️
I went to Valle de Bravo for a weekend. I had an amazing experience in el Loto Azul 🧘♂️ There, you find yourself surrended by nature on the top of the Hill 🗻 in the Magic Village. The place was perfect. It has a jacuzzi masseuses, pool, gym, restaurant, shops, etc. It's beautiful to see how the architecture harmonizes with the nature. The staff is helpful and friendly.🌿🌲🌳 I really recommend you to stay there! It's a unique experience ❤️👌
Overpriced hotel
I booked this hotel as i had a wedding in Valle de Bravo and came in just for the night. The hotel is very well located if you dont want to get into the city center traffic and is very rustic in case you are expecting this type of hotel. The guy in the reception was very rude when we came in for the check in and at night, as some friends asked for help to get a taxi he said he couldnt and dissapeared without even trying. As well the room next door woke us up at 2 am as we could hear their conversations and we had to tell them to please lower the voice.
Interesting concept, uneven execution
We stayed at Loto Azul for the 2018-2019 new year's holidays. We've been there for 8 nights. 3 adults, and one 11 year-old kid. Although they promote themselves as a "spa" and "nature friendly" stay, it is most a no-frills standard hotel inside a beautiful setting full of trees and green landscape. Not that is not good. It's just that the message is kind of mixed. For instance, there is a giant terracotta Buddha statue on a very proeminent spot (as if giving the tone for the stay) and at the entrance hall there's also a Starbucks shop. Again, not a bad combination - just a confusing one. I got badly ill from a vegetarian pizza I room-service ordered. And did spent the next full day throwing up in the loo. NOT hotel's fault, I guess. Maybe my body was tired or something. I'm not sure. Their cleaning standards are pretty high, though. But again: a mixed combination. The room in which we stayed didn't match the beautiful pictures posted here. Ours was more simple, bare bones, with a "fake rustic" tone. The light fixtures were INCREDIBLY DIM, so we were sometimes forced to use our phones flashlights to roam around the room when searching for something. Also, there is no option to store away clothes for 4 people. You have to keep them in your briefcase. Again: not a bad thing. Just strange. Service is fantastically smart, courteous and professional - from the front desk to the help, including the room service clerks. The shower head (despite old) offers plenty of hot water and a comforting, pleasant hot bath. Our shared bathroom had separations for the toilet, bath and sink - allowing three people to use it at the same time. Very convenient. Although there is a fireplace in the living room, the sofa doesn't surround it. It is placed sideways to the fireplace. Odd. So, in order to enjoy the fire, you're supposed to spread out a blanket on the (tile) floor and use some cushions & pillows. The breakfast is a hit-or-miss. There is no buffet. So either you love egg, meat, pork, sausage and chicken in your breakfast, or you're out of options - like myself: a vegetarian. Everyday I ordered a small plate of fruit and bread. Everyday. Also, each cup of milk, tea or coffee had to be ordered individually (and charged accordingly); there is no unlimited drinking or eating option. On one hand, seems economically sound. On the other, feels cheap. My wife bought an optional spa massages, which included sauna - that didn't fancy her, but I enjoyed instead. The spa building is pretty cool and relaxing. At last, they've got a nice family pool: clean, shallow (about up to my chest) and adequately warm. It is surrounded by sun loungers and free towels, beneath a lovely and comfortable gazebo. Since everything around Loto Azul is surrounded by greenery, it is a MAGNIFICENT place to chill out. Poolside service is sharp, fast and the food portions are generous - albeit not cheap. Prices are fair, though. In general, a nice place to definitely return and recommend - taking in account its overall uneven execution. And DON'T order the vegetarian pizza ; )
VERY DECEPTIVE
At first, when looking at the pictures, the Loto Azul seems to be a nice place but it's all deceptions : First as soon as you walk out of the hotel, you are in the "Favellas", terrible neighborhood. They have one small heater downstairs and it stopped working around 11pm, none of the wall electrical plugs were working so no TV, no internet. In the morning, while we were looking forward to use the Jacuzzi tub, we realized that it wasn't working either ...... No amenities of any kind (NO shampoo, NO soap, NO water) which is ridiculous when paying $350 (US) for 2 nights ! In the morning, as the place was freezing upstairs we asked if there was some kind of heating system and they responded that the only heating was the fire place which had no wood ! This place is a JOKE!!!
