BedBugs

Reviewed 24 june, 2021

The problem is the FACT they won't get rid of the dark rugs. Their beds are so heavy that maids can't be bothered to completely clean the bed. I found hairs of other people. BedBugs get 1 star. Barclay had a bedbug bite me. Without the bugs (they are manageable with proper training and minimalism) the hotel is not that bad.

Still good after 8(?) years

Reviewed 27 may, 2021

I rated the Barclay sometime around 2013. I had stayed there a number of times then found an rented an apartment to stay at as my time with vlients in Vancouver ramped up. I dropped the apartment 2 years ago. I was passing through Vancouver for 1 night and book the Barclay. The price was as cheap as last time! The room was small with a double bed. But for $75 all in for a place to keep the rain off in central West End Vancouver for one night, you can't beat it. The bed was comfy, the room was spotless, the WIFI worked fine. Everyting was good. The lovely tile hallway reminds me of Europe or Latin America. But there is a downside to that even as there is in Europe. Doors closing with the obligatory fire safety closing spring echo down the hall. If people actually had consideration for others, they would not let them slam. But all in all, th Barclay is a pleasant surprise in overpriced downtown Vancouver. It's hardly a luxury place (take note...no elevator or bellhop) but it's perfectly fine for a night or few without breaking your wallet.

Excellent Value!

The hotel is located on the edge of the city and is walking distance to lots of restaurants and public transport. The rooms are a very generous size and the amenities are very good. For the money, this hotel is fantastic value! It provided everything you need to have a comfortable stay. For breakfast, we ate at Cora's next door which was also very reasonably priced. I would definitely recommend this hotel!

Mouse in the room.

Reviewed 9 october, 2019

My daughter and I stayed one night at the Barclay. The room needs updating in the decor department. Beds were ok. While sitting watching TV my daughter thought she spotted something running accross the room. It disappeared until we were sleeping. She woke up to see a mouse in between the two beds, by the desk, then scurried out under the door to the hallway. Hotel staff was notified in the morning after we checked out and all he could say was I'm so sorry. Nothing else was said or done. I will never stay there again or recommend it to anyone.

Great stay

Quaint hotel in Vancouver. Really enjoyed my stay here. Staff were lovely and check in and check out was a breeze. Room was a a decent size as was the bathroom. Serviced daily. A window that you could open to let some fresh air in. It is an older hotel so no elevator so it’s a bit hard taking your luggage up and down the stairs. But it had the most wonderful chandeliers throughout. There was no fridge, microwave or coffee machine but there was a great little place to eat breakfast right next door. Bus stop a short walk down the road. Lots of eateries and shops within walking distance as well. Would definitely recommend to anyone.
