Sadly outdated, needing refurbishment and not value for money.
Stayed here in August 2020. The hotel is very much outdated. The price is not value for money. The brasserie restaurant is good and service fantastic, but the reception staff leave a lot to be desired. Most unhelpful. Air-conditioning in the room wasn’t working properly despite 37° outside. Moved rooms for the air-conditioning still wasn’t working properly, so move back to the original room the following day. The excuse from the reception staff was at the air-conditioning couldn’t cope as it was so old. Far too overpriced.
Terrible, not the usual standard for Mercure brand
My daughter and I booked two nights here to explore Vannes. On arrival we were informed that the mini bar was empty and the tea/ coffee wasn't in the room due to covid restrictions, we were offered bottled water to take up with us. At first glance the room looked tired, the lampshade has stains as does the wall. When we saw a variety of hairs in the bath we went to reception to complain. We were offered a drink whilst the bathroom was allegedly cleaned. On returning to our room, the bath was dry and the same hairs had been moved to another part of the bath leading us to believe someone just flicked a dry cloth around. Its worth mentioning that there was no hand soap in the room but individual bars could be requested at reception, shame we weren't told this, we used our own shower gel. By this point, we were tired and went straight out for dinner, its about 30 mins stroll to the centre of Vannes. The following morning we could see how dirty the room really was, thick dust on the telephone beside the bed, cobwebs and dust on the radiator in the bathroom and air vents that had never seen a damp cloth. Once again we complained to reception and said that we were under the impression that the hotel should be extra clean with the covid rules that are now in place. We were told the room would be given a thorough clean, unsurprisingly this didn't happen. (We do have photos as proof). Finally, its August, everywhere is busy with tourists yet the hotel restaurant is closed on a Thursday evening, as is one nearby. If you want somewhere to eat you either go across the road to the casino which isn't ideal for under 18s or walk/drive 2km into the town. Sadly we couldn't wait to leave and will never be returning, Mercure room rates are not cheap and I feel very ripped off on this occasion.
Comfortable stay
Very comfortable hotel on the far side of town by the port. Plenty of parking. The bedroom was particularly roomy and the bed one of the best I’ve enjoyed in an hotel recently. 35 minute walk into town along the side of the port. Very quite and clean.
Vannes outside Le Port
The Hotel was excellent, a little out of Vannes. The restaurant was closed on sunday which was a disappointment. We were recommended to walk a short distance to a restaurant where we had what we thought was a good meal.
Perfect stay
We had a perfect 2 nights stay in this hotel. We were warmly welcomed by the receptionist and be guided accordingly about the possibilities, parking, map, to be seen in the town, etc. The hotel is in a 20-25 minutes walk from the old town along the harbour. However, along the road you may find non time restricted parking place, if you are lucky. The twin room was large enough to lay down a yoga mat. The beds and beddings were perfect for us. The room quiet and clean, with water cattle, small fridge. The bathroom, shower were also convenient. I checked the “fitness room” and even if it is rather simple you may excercise with the equipment if you wish. I didn’t find it problematic. The breakfast was pretty good, but of course in busy hours you may have to wait for table or at the coffee machine. BUT, and this is also for other hotels we wisited in Bretagne, WHY there are no vegetables for breakfast? Where is the famous French agriculture, where are the fresh green products from the young farmers? At least tomato, paprika or cucumber? Pleas note that in Germany even in Ibis budget we may get vegetables! But dont panic, you won’t be hungry, since there is a really good sortiments for breakfast. Just a proposal to be more green, more healthy. There is a reataurant attached to the hotel, and as we saw the price level is about the same as in the town. There is a boat office really close to the hotel, you may visit the islands. We tried the small beach at Conleau, which is about 2 km from the hotel through a nice walking path. Shower and toilet are available. In brief, we were satisfied and the hotel is good for coming back for longer stay, too. Just reflecting to some opinions, we had no problem with the noice from the Casino. When we closed the window, it was ok for us, even if we are sensitive in this field.
