Cheapest and best hotel of our cross-country trip

We only stayed here a night, but it was clear how much more this hotel cared than others we stayed at. It had a great small town feel, and the front desk people were fabulous. They got us everything we needed and even had fancy little yogurts in the morning.

No heater in a Canadian winter

It was -30 of with the windchill. The heater did not work in the room. They gave me a space heater that did not stand a chance of keeping up with a cold. It was freezing in the room all night. I barely slept. The clerk was rude and impatient with me when I complained. I did not dare have a shower the next morning. It was a complete waste of money. Do not stay here

I have to admit - I was a little disappointed seeing all the negative reviews of this hotel! We found the place, and first impressions, it looked a little like a typical run down motel. BUT upon entering, it looked cozy and comfortable. Fireplace and couches in the lobby made it homey - and were quickly greeted by someone awaiting our arrival. Check in was quick, and we were given info the hotel in general (continental breakfast, coin laundry) about Vegreville & neighbouring towns. Our room was clean, like you would expect at a chain hotel. Everything was clean and smelled good. Soaps and shampoos in the bathroom, microwave and fridge in room. Best of all, we paid under $100 (total was $86 I believe) for two adults and a dog. Comfortable beds, clean room, central location (about 1km from Walmart, Tim Hortons, Canadian Tire... etc.) Definitely recommend!

When walking in the front door you immediately have a cozy feeling. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. The room had was so quaint and clean. The pizza joint in the same building has really heart pizza. Yes we noticed the roads/driveways were on the rough side but worth the bumps in the road.

Called the hotel to inquire about 2 rooms, the said that I would be charged $15 extra if 2... yes, if 2 people were staying in one room. I Would rate this hotel a Zero if I could but that is not an option!😣
