DON’T BE FOOLED INTO STAYING AT THIS PLACED! I have multiple reasons and a full story of what happened but if you want a short version here it is: the owner was absurdly late to checking us in, asked for assistance on wifi not working and owner did not help, shower cabin leaks and last but most certainly not least the bed is really bad. I’m writing this at 2:18am because 2 hours ago I was awakened by my side of the bed dropping suddenly (it’s not a king size bed btw; it’s 2 twin size beds smashed together) and it dropped because it was held up by some pamphlets, two pieces of wood and some bricks! I have to catch a train at 7 am in a few hours for a 5 hour trip, so this was definitely uncalled for. Detailed story: When I go to a place and have a bad experience I usually just forget it and move on, but my experience with this place has been so unsatisfactory that I feel compelled to say something. The issues started as soon as we arrived. I told Teresa that we would be arriving at 11:30 AM; we were there at 11:20 AM and Teresa didn’t show up to check us in until 12:00 PM. On top of that she was 30 minutes late, she left with the excuse that we didn’t have a printed copy of the reservation which she didn’t previously specify we needed to have. So she had to leave to print out the reservation. So that was about another half an hour before we were in our room. In retrospect as I’m writing this I realize that the reason why the excuse of the printed reservation came up is because there was no room ready for us, because while we were waiting for her to come back the room she ended up giving us was being cleaned. As soon as we get the room I asked about the internet, because we needed it to plan out where we were going to eat and visit in Venice. The internet doesn’t work, and when asked if she could try to restart the router to see if that would fix the problem she refused to it. Something as simple as unplugging and then plugging back the router she could not do. Other issues I have with this place are: the main door of the apartment building doesn’t close, the shower cabin leaks, and there’s a ridiculous rule about not eating in the room just in the common areas. This is supposed to be a hotel, how are you bot allowed to eat in your room? Needless to say I will never use this service again. I wrote this before the whole issue with the bed so just insert bed story here because I’m done with this review lol.
Nice and inexpensive!
We didn’t want to spend so much on accommodation on the Venice island, but chose to stay out of the island-Mestre. It’s not far/ complicated, just a short bus ride I would say.... and, probably save half of the budget on the accommodation! Big room, good service, nothing to complaint with such a price!
A Little Rough Around the Edges - But Cheap Way to Visit Venice
If you are looking for just a place to sleep while visiting the extremely expensive city of Venice, then I recommend the Villa Teresa in Mestre. It's a short walk to the Mestre Train Station. Trains between Mestre and Venice are very inexpensive and run often. Other than convenience and price, Villa Teresa has very little to offer. Rooms are barely adequate and the "breakfast" part of "B & B" is minimal. When I was there they did not want to take my credit card - so be sure to check this out before you arrive. When your trip to Venice is over and just a pleasant memory, you will then fully appreciate all the money you saved by staying at the Villa Teresa.
Cheap and cheerful
Choose here as reviews looked ok. Accommodation was fine, clean and as advertised. Electrics in room were a bit dodgy, but working ok! My bed was held up by breeze blocks! Also decoration could’ve been better managed. Very poor soundproofing! It sounded like we had all the pipes in the entire wall behind our bed! So when neighbours were hair-drying at 11pm it sounded like they were coming through the wall!! This was mentioned to’ manager, but no real help offered. Very close to shops and a free nice cafes/restaurants, so that’s a plus. Cleaner was great, she came in every day and worked very hard, so no complaints about that. Venice is a 15 min bus ride away on no 2 bus, so quite convenient. However, the buses are VERY busy and so overcrowded so journey is not pleasant at all! Plus my mum had her purse PICKPOCKETED on the very first day we arrived on this bus route! Manager told us later that Mestre has a real problem with this! :( He was helpful in getting info to police and are grateful for this. If I was to visit Venice again, I would definitely stay in Venice or surrounding area, but not Mestre as crime issue and there is nothing much to do there.
Lots of mosquitos....
Good rooms with aircondition, every room had its own toilet and shower. A very small kitchen, so we sat outside in the small garden and had our breakfast. We bought our own breakfast in the shop nearby. No problem to find bus or train to take you to Venezia.
