Little Gem right in the heart of Venice

We visited Venice for 2 nights in August with my husband and 9yr old. The hotel was in the perfect location. It is a 5min walk from San Marco and about a 7min walk from Rialto Bridge. Before we arrived the owner messaged us to find out what time we were to arrive. The hotel is in an area with a Spar supermarket and a couple of restaurants two steps away. We we warmly welcomed and check-in was relatively easy. We could also leave our luggage after checkout. The room was clean and big for Venice. The only downside was the noise outside starting from 7am. I would imagine it would be the same for any hotel in this location as the shop owners want to move about before the tourist set in for the day. Breakfast is typical Italian with pastries, yoghurt, juice and coffee. To be honest, that's all you really need. If you are looking for a simple hotel with easy access to everything, then Casa Dolce Venezia is the way to go.
Modest accomodations. Basics met but could be improved.

Room was small but comfortable. No natural light and no remote for air conditioning. We climbed up to turn aircon on and there appeared to be no power to air con. There was mould up high in the bathroom but this understandable given the lack of natural light and proximity to water. Breakfast was basic but very nice and the women who worked in the dining room couldn’t speak much English but wa very happy to help us. Location is fantastic but mosquitos were bad. Had to wait 30 mins for someone to turn up to let us into the accomodation and there is no onsite conceriege

This is not a hotel. More like serviced rooms The room was clean and serviced daily but maintenance let it down i.e. TV useless, belongings safe didn't work and mid visit the heating stopped working. There was bathroom mold, but at ceiling level 10 ft off floor, and no bath plug. There is no permanent reception and emails/ texts to caretaker about the heating were ignored. Access is via key to the building but it often took 10 anxiety provoking minutes to get in as the door lock was faulty. Other guests reported the same issue. Although very hard to find location was very convenient . Caretaker was very friendly but not a lot of use with any of the above. Breakfast was ok. Authorised price sheet on back of room door showed 49 euros. Ok as budget rooms given issues outlined and suitable for 1/2 night stay

Only good thing about this place is the location (however be prepared to pay 60 - 80 euro for a water taxi to get there). No concierge on premises, no-one speaks English and NO help, whatsoever. Television reception so bad it could not be watched, Internet slow. Breakfast appalling with one burnt croissant and warm orange juice. Kitchen is locked outside of breakfast hours. Used toiletries and one used roll of toilet paper. Emailed requesting more toilet paper, but never received. I left after one night in disgust.
