Lovely, relaxing stay
We stayed at the Inn on the Green for one night in April, 2021 in order to explore Middlebury. The Inn on the Green is truly lovely. We had reserved a single room and the Innkeeper upgraded us to a suite. This unexpected generosity was very much appreciated. Although our stay was short, it was extremely relaxing. The Inn is very comfortable and cozy. Many shops and restaurants are within walking distance. The contactless check-in and out worked very well and helped provide a sense of safety. We appreciated the precautions taken due to the pandemic. We look forward to returning.
Excellent Inn!
This is the most adorable Inn in Middlebury, VT. The owner is constantly making improvements, there are new king mattresses, new furniture in many of the rooms. She has updated to keyless locks on the room doors and exterior door. The Inn on the Green has refreshments, coffee, tea, snacks etc, available in their lounge. I have stayed here many times and it is actually better and better every time I stay!
What a Lucky Find in the Center of Middlebury!!
Due to a last minute cancellation, I was able to swap into this Inn during a weekend college championship swim meet hosted by MIddlebury College. The entire town was packed, but The Inn on the Green was a lovely respite from the chaos. The Bristol Suite was spacious and lovely. Although it was below freezing and it snowed twice, the walkways and stairs were totally clean and dry all weekend. The in-room breakfast options were AMAZING and delivered piping hot.... The coffee was fantastic, and I'm not sure where they found fresh berries in FEBRUARY, but I enjoyed every bite. The common area was charming, warm and FULL of plentiful healthy snacks that my swimmers and I noshed on all weekend long. The staff was remarkably sweet, accommodating and truly made us feel like part of the family... I was worried about the small parking lot, but it worked out fine every night.
A Gem in the Center of Middlebury
Our daughter went to Middlebury College. Middlebury is a beautiful, small Vermont village but the amount of accommodations are limited. The first time I made reservations to drop her off for college Freshman Year, I found what I felt was the last room in town at Inn on the Green. That ended up being a lucky find. It is a beautiful Inn in the middle of town. It is walking distance to the shops and restaurants. The owner told me that her advice for college parents was, every time a parent visits their child during their four years at Middlebury College, stay at the same hotel to build a relationship so that when your child graduates, you have some ‘priority’ with the hotel for rooms. I told her ‘put us on the waitlist’ for graduation in four years. That was the best advice ever! We did stay there several visits a year for four years. The October Parents Weekend is in the middle of fall foliage season changing so a lot of competition for rooms with ‘leaf peepers’. I booked all our reservations a year in advance. The main house of the Inn is old and beautiful. All the rooms are different and well appointed with antiques and carpets. Each evening you hang a menu on your door of what you want for breakfast and the next morning it is delivered to your room. There is always coffee and cookies available. There is no evening service of bar or dinner, but one is within walking distance of many other opportunities. There is a second building that has four rooms in it. I have stayed in that building also. The rooms are just as quaint even though they are newer. This last year we stayed there, the ownership changed. But our last visit for our daughter’s graduation reflected that the warm hospitality has not changed. The new owners have partnered with some local vendors to have the option of amenities that were not there before. The Inn on the Green will make your Middlebury visit a very special one.
Quiet Inn in Middlebury
We arrived about 9:30 at night. Parking, retrieving our key and locating our room was quick and easy. Everything was so quiet! Room was spacious, charming and inviting. Good nights sleep. Met a few guests in the morning. The inn was full but everything was so quiet. Filled out the breakfast order, indicating I had to eat gluten-free. I spoke with the host the next morning going over the possibilities for gluten-free. Quite a selection. Both my wife's and my breakfast was delicious. The tray was brought to our room. We ate at a small 2 person table in the large upstairs open space next to a window overlooking Middlebury. Delicious and delightful. The hosts and the inn couldn't have been nicer. We definitely would return.
