Quick trip to Vernal
I'd like to be able to rate this hotel higher, but there were enough little issues that detracted from our stay that I don't feel I can. Some of these may be Covid related, but other just seem to be general things where it didn't seem like they were paying enough attention to details. A couple of general, non-room related items I want to point out is that their continental breakfast area is closed due to Covid. They did have a grab and go breakfast available, but we didn't end up using it. The second is that their pool and fitness area had been closed and opened back up the day we checked in. The hot tub was still closed, but the pool and fitness area had opened. My daughter's family took her little boys swimming and said the pool was COLD. I don't know if the water just hadn't had a chance to heat up yet, or if it's always this way. You might want to be aware of that if you're traveling with kids who are looking forward to swimming. We had 2 rooms for our family of 7. One was a two room queen studio and the other was a one bedroom king suite. My husband and I stayed in the 2 room queen suite. Beds were comfy, but the duvet that they have listed in their room details was basically another patterned sheet. When I think of a duvet, I think of a nice, padded covering and this was definitely not that. We all ended up eating our take-in meals in our room as the other room didn't have a table in the room. There was a shortage of silverware. I think we had 2 forks and 3 spoons, which seems strange for a room marketed as a 4 person room. There was only one package of dishwasher detergent in the room. Since we needed to run two loads of dishes, we took one from the other room. This may be something they normally restock daily if needed, but since they're not making up the rooms due to Covid they need to leave a little larger stock. Same thing with bathroom toiletries. One very small bottle of shampoo wouldn't be enough for a longer stay. I'm sure you can get more on request from the desk, but that's an additional step that their guests shouldn't have to take. My biggest issue with the room was that it seemed dated. The hotel was built in 2012 according to their website. The padded chair that was in our room had holes in the upholstery. Overall it just seemed like it was time for a facelift. I didn't ask my daughter if there were any problems with their room. As I noted above, there was no table in their room -- just a desk that slid under a counter that you could use as a computer table. No dining table at all. Again, on the website it says the room includes a table for 2. Overall our stay was OK, but I think I'd try a different hotel in the Vernal area next time. I'd also like to state that considering the recent surge in Covid cases here in Utah, the entire town seemed very careless with the Covid precautions we've been asked to take. This is by no means the hotels fault, but the majority of guests we saw weren't wearing masks, and this also applied to the 2 restaurants we picked up take-out from. I'll be thinking twice before returning to the Vernal area until this pandemic is over.
Quiet stay
One thing I value the most in a hotel is quiet - and this place delivered. From the friendly (but socially distant!) welcome, to the clean room with plenty of towels, this was a great home base for a visit to Dinosaur National Monument. The grab & go breakfast is perfectly adequate (esp with coffee and tea in the room). There is also a Subway and Cafe Rio in the parking lot for easy take-out.
Swing and a Miss
Nope, sorry Marriott. With staying with you for a week and the kids running above me and the Multiple kinds I called the front desk to have somebody stop these children it’s never happened. Yes I can’t believe your workers I blame the parents who control the children upstairs. But this hotel is made for tourists, not people that have to work all hours of the day.
2-Bedroom Suite was Great
We stayed here in a 2-bedroom suite and enjoyed the kitchenette and all the space. We were here in November so it was not crowded and we had the pool to ourselves which the kids loved. The breakfast was average. We enjoyed the complimentary hot chocolate and the staff was very friendly and helpful.
Good price and good stay
We had a good trip as a high school mountainbike team. rooms were clean and they accommodated a big group. our Television in our room was broken but we didn't stay long enough for it to bother us, they would have fixed it soon after, I'm sure. they were very good, good free breakfast too. nice location, I'll stay there again!
