More about the hotel
Great place
Is it an old hotel? Yes. But is it oceanfront and fabulous? ABSOLUTELY! Front desk associate Quintin was very efficient but most of all friendly and nice. I hope he stays with the company and can eventually become a manager. Quintin knows what great customer service is!
FRONT DESK NEEDS TRAINING
I first made my reservation and when I checked the confirmation emailed to me I found that the reservation was for another Holiday Inn in another city. I had to call back and cancel the reservation and start the process all over. I informed the agent that I had a 4:30 wedding to attend. Check in is at 4pm. He said he would take care of it. Two days before arrival I called to confirm my reservation and informed them again of my special request and was told they would make a note of it and that he would send me an email. The email also had a place for me to leave a note and return. Upon arrival at 1pm as I had requested I was told my room was not ready. We went and had lunch and returned at 3pm to still find our room was not ready. Plenty of excuses were offered. I am a travel agent and had informed them of that and even was quoted a T/A rate. They should be trying to impress everyone, but you would think they would really want to be on their game with me. At that point he radioed housekeeping and asked them to make my room a priority. Should have done that at 1pm. I had been on the property waiting for my room for two hours. Other guests were arriving now and going to straight to their rooms. Mind you I have been waiting two hours while they walked right to their rooms. Prioritize those that are waiting not those that may show up five or six hours later. This has been stated as an older hotel. However, the rooms are in nice condition. Painting seems recent, new carpet and furniture. The bed was very comfortable. The room was very clean. The property is up to date. The pool area was nice, landscaped, heated pool, deck chairs and a handicap lift. The lobby restrooms between Mulligans and the lobby were filthy. There were no paper towels and it appeared that someone had put out a box of kleenex to dry your hands, empty. Typically, I do not like Mulligans. There were three hostesses on duty. None of the three seemed to want to be there and lacked any personality or enthusiasm. The waitress was very nice and our food and drinks were quick to arrive and good. I will tell you that two beers and a nacho platter with tip was $35. Very pricy. Because of the poor check in process we were given a voucher for breakfast. The breakfast was one of the best I have ever had. Even though it was free, it would have been about $40 with tip. All in all, the weekend was great. We made it to the wedding with ten minutes to spare. Thank God it was very close by. If not we would have been late. The hotel, except for the front desk staff, was nice. Mulligans is right on the beach which made dining a treat. Front desk staff needs to be better trained in hospitality. Guests should be treated like GUESTS! When you have a guest standing in front of you and you priority is someone that will not be on the property for five or six hours...something is wrong. The female clerk at check out on Sunday morning was exceptional. Will I stay here again? Maybe. I'll probably check out other options first.
Nice visit
I stayed here two nights, left for a few and then returned for four more nights. The hotel is a little older, but still well maintained. I didn't choose ocean front but they do have those rooms. I had two queens, small frig and everything that I needed. Easy access from Ocean Drive, very friendly staff. There is a restaurant right behind them with delicious food and you receive a 10% discount.
Great beach access
After reading some of the reviews, I was a bit apprehensive about staying here. This is an older property but the rooms are newer and just fine with the only draw back is the availability of electric outlets in the room. I've only stayed in Ocean front rooms (twice) so that is only room experience. I've never been in any hotel anywhere with the ocean this close to the hotel. The restaurant attached is pricey but its right on the beach. You can sit outside at a covered table and enjoy the view. They have an excellent happy hour which helps cost if you go early. The only real downsides are the parking and the 1 elevator which is on the north front corner of the building which works fine if your room is in that area, not so much elsewhere. The parking is a problem on the busy weekends especially closer to the elevator side. There is public beach access next door with a small parking lot so there are a few spaces taken by beachgoers. Access to town is great. Straight on out to the bridge and a mile down the road and you're entering town with loads of restaurants.
Excellent service and wonderful view
We celebrated our 30th anniversary here and had a great time. They surprised us with an upgrade from ocean view king to a spacious 3rd-floor ocean view suite and it was lovely. Our bathroom was neat and modern with plenty of hot water. We had a balcony with seating to watch the surf and enjoy coffee (Keurig machine) and the room had a mini-frig. The front desk staff was super friendly and we enjoyed coffee from the reception area as well. The AC worked well and the strong sliding door kept the room quiet for sleeping. Convenient restaurant within steps of our room was great for breakfast (6:30am-noon) or dining.
