More about the hotel
The very best guest house in the country.
Anne, her daughter and Dad are lovely people who do everything they can to make your visit perfect. The house is beautiful with lovely grounds with picnic tables and benches. Our room was spacious, bright, well decorated with many extras such as chilled fresh water and camping chairs that were very much appreciated. The excellent breakfast always set us up for the day. Nothing is too much trouble. Although the shop wasn't open due to the current situation, it was fascinating to see the many outstanding original paintings done by Anne's Dad. He really is an extremely talented artist. This is also a perfect location for exploring Cornwall and there are even pleasant walks to Nare Head and the coast path from the village, as well as the fabulous sandy Carne beach nearby. There's even a lovely, unspoilt, old pub opposite. Perfect in every way.
Didn’t want to return home
We visited this guest house for a 5 night stay and only wish that we could have afforded a longer break. Located within a 5 min drive to little hidden gem of a national trust beach, is elkerley guest house, run by Anne and her father who were the most humble, helpful and fabulous hosts I’ve ever had pleasure of meeting. Nothing was too much bother and they made you feel like you were part of the family. The room was ample sized, room 3 I believe, which overlooked the beautifully set garden, picnic area and a quiet, quaint little pub across the road, which serves food. It was clean and bright and smelt fresh, with no dust to be seen and when you have dust allergies, this is a godsend! There was a fan, a tv with more than 5 channels! (hey we’ve done a few National Holiday breaks and if you find yourselves with more than 5 channels then you’ve done well)... there was also a hairdryer, an alarm clock and 2 camping chairs, that came in very handy when we visited one of the many beautiful beaches. The little extras in the bedroom like a sewing set, cotton buds/pads and clean coffee making facilities were most welcomed. The supply of a decent hand wash and toiletries in the bathroom were a delight to see too. The bathroom was clean and bright, although the stand in shower was a little cramped and the water pressure wasn’t very powerful but it did the trick. Upon exiting our room, there was a small set of stairs which took us down to the landing. Small enough stairs, that my gigantic, overly packed suitcase was carted quite happily upstairs for me by hubby, with no moan to be heard. At the bottom of the stairs, to the left was the dining room and to the right was the art gallery (although this was temporarily closed due to COVID-19). The dining area was big enough for its guests, with ample room between its tables, I didn’t feel that I was quite sat on my neighbours knee anyhow. It was spotless, full of charming pictures that I believe were painted by Ann’s father. It was warm and inviting, with a settee and coffee table looking out onto its front garden and it’s beautiful trees, which were housed by a large family of crows. The dining table layout was professional with the quaintest of matching crockery, the breakfast was cooked to perfection by Anne and her father and they catered for my dietary requirements and our veggie preferences. Anne shared a piece of her home baked lemon drizzle cake which was delicious. Let’s just say we didn’t want to return home and will be booking again next year, hopefully a little longer, pending pennies! Anyway, if your visiting Cornwall and don’t mind staying a short drive from all the tourist hotspots then this is the guest house to stay at. Thank you very much Anne, your guest house is a credit to you ☺️ and we will be back next year.
What a beautiful Cornwall home away from home!!!
When I booked a room at Elerkey months ago I had no idea how beautiful the place really was. The pictures don't do it justice. Charming, comfortable, a breakfast to die for. Being greeted by Harvey's stunning paintings every time we walked through the front door is a memory I'll cherish forever. Both Harvey and his daughter Anne made our Cornwall visit extra special and I cannot recommend staying at Elerkey enough. And be sure to visit the wonderful pub across the street. Anne and Harvey, thanks for making our Cornwall visit so memorable!!! -Sandra and Sarah, Columbus, OH USA
Perfect Week's Stay
This is the perfect place to spend a week exploring and enjoying the Roseland Peninsula.. From the moment we booked proprietors Ann her father Harvey and her daughter could not do enough . We had a delightful purpose built newly decorated ground floor annexe double room with ensuite walk in new shower and separate WC plus our own private furnished terrace. The bed was very comfortable. Loads of storage space in the large hanging cupboard and in the numerous drawers. Free car parking was easy next to the house and the New Inn opposite provided most of our excellent evening dinners, with tables reserved by Ann. Cream teas and an art gallery of superb prints and originals of local beauty spots all painted by him . Our room had tea and coffee making facilities and ingredients plus delicious biscuits. Fresh milk was provided each afternoon by Ann in jug with lid and with a second jug of iced water to cool the milk if necessary ! Uniquely in our experience there was a further large cupboard in our room containing a comprehensive selection of beach chairs etc and sun umbrellas for the beach and for our terrace table and chairs Wow ! There were specially briefing notes laminated so we could take them out on loan about the local areas,. flora and wild birds to visit and spot with the use of local Ordnance Survey maps attached. Because our hosts were so delightfully friendly and helpful, we had a most relaxing unforgettable stay here and cannot recommend Elerkey Guest House too highly.
Family run, very friendly and welcoming!
Easy to get to and a great location to explore Cornwall. Able to securely park our motorcycle in the spacious car parking. The family atmosphere is peaceful and caring. Accommodation is clean and tidy. Breakfast is well cooked, served and tasty! Opposite is the New Inn pub / restaurant which we would also recommend!
