Lacked charm
Stayed one night on our Camino del Norte. This hotel was clean. Everything else lacked charm. Very hot no air conditioning. A wedding reception had occurred hence staff busy and we were an added extra to deal with. Dining room had tv blaring, meal was not memorable. We requested earlier breakfast so that we could walk and beat the heat, this seemed to be unexpected! Reception staff seemed disinterested.
Budget - ish Hotel on the Camino
Ok hotel on the way in to Vilalba, all a bit tired and dated, as is the whole town to be fair. There is no lift and the rooms are up some steep stairs so not for those with mobility issues. Room was ok, clean and the bed was fine, great shower, but a bit noisy in the morning. We ate in town so not sure about the food but the wine and coffee was ok, served from a bar that needed a lot of tidying, as an ex barman myself I couldn't of worked in it.
On Camino del Norte
Absolutely no problem with the quality of the room - clean and comfortable with decent bathing facilities. Staff were friendly, accommodating and helpful. We ate dinner there but the food was disappointing. I had expected something pretty good based on the number of locals eating there but unfortunately this proved not to be the case. Menu del dia had very little choice and what we chose was not particularly exciting - pretty standard fare, this probably reflected the price of 10 Euros
On Camino del Norte
The person who checked us in was surly and seemed irritated that we were disturbing her. The kitchen was closed for cleaning so no food was available. Our room was very small, plain but very clean. Breakfast was paltry, two pieces of toasts with a cup of coffee The hotel seemed filled with guests who had no where to go except the restaurant because of rain and hotel staff tolerated our presence but basically ignored all of us. I have not been in a less welcoming place and was grateful to leave after one night to continue to walk the Camino.
Recommend
We spent one night here while walking the Camino Norte . Excellent reception. Rooms very clean, comfortable and with a powerful shower. We asked for a quiet room and were obliged. We did not eat here but there were a number of restaurants not far away.
