Terrible Service at Thanksgiving
Reserved a room for relatives (a family of 5) who were in town for Thanksgiving. Check-in was great and staff were friendly and accommodating. The room was clean and I asked for a late checkout so the family would not have to rush on Thanksgiving. The family includes three young children. I was told we could have a late checkout until 1:00 pm. The family arrived and their stay was fine. The next morning I called the hotel to confirm that they could check out at 1:00 pm. I was told "No ma'am! Checkout is at 12." I explained that I had been told at check in that I could have a late checkout. I was rudely told again "No ma'am!" and that people were in the lobby who needed help. The employee said that I should not have been told that I could have a late checkout and that she would "speak with" the employee who checked me in. It doesn't matter what I should have been told; it matters what I was told when I checked in. The employee told me "don't let this ruin your day". I told the employee that her reply was rude and she replied that it was not and that she and everyone at the hotel were pleasant. I asked to speak to the manager and she said that she was the manager. I asked for the name of her supervisor or the regional manager. I left a voicemail message three days ago and have not received a response. Do not stay here. I will be reporting my experience to Marriott. This hotel has horrible customer service and does not honor their word.
No complaints
I've stayed at this hotel often for the past 2 years. My first experience staying at a Marriott Residence Inn was years ago. I stayed in Rochester, NY. I was working for a major Corp and was in training for 2 weeks. I fell in love with this hotel brand. Whenever I travel I ALWAYS check Marriott Residence Inn hotel brand first before checking any other hotel brand. I enjoyed my stays at the WALDORF, MD location. A great shopping center located directly behind and nearby the facility A supermarket less than a 2 minute drive away. Great for families and weekend getaways. During one of my visits, there was a group of little girls having breakfast. They had a birthday slumber party. They were too cute and very well mannered. During another stay at this location. They were renovating the rooms and I was able to snag some cool artwork for just $5 a piece lol. I purchased 4 pieces and some lamps totaling $40. Luckily A friend of my lived nearby. I was able to store it in their garage and pick it up during another visit. Unfortunately, I will not be visiting this area any time soon. I really enjoyed my stays here. Very friendly professional staff and a great morning breakfast. I will miss coming here.
Property has gone downhill
I've stayed at this hotel before, last year in fact and I feel that it has gone down considerably. I received a room that had mold along the grout in the bathtub, the grout job reminded me of someone who said "I know how to grout because I'm a handyman", but really did not know how to professionally grout a tub. The laundry bag for dry cleaning was missing during my entire stay, the bathtub stopper had to be removed so that the water would flow out of the bathtub and the popcorn was never replaced. The property reeks of a lack of caring. The housekeeping staff appears to not care and there does not appear to be a management review of rooms after they are supposedly cleaned. I will be looking for another hotel next year.
Clean, Missing Amenities, Privacy
The hotel is located in an easily accessible area which has shopping, restaurants, and anything else you may need. The hotel is clean and the front desk was welcoming and try to accommodate our needs. What I found lacking was simple amenities and privacy. Many of the hotels that we stayed in now have USB plugs available to you. This particular hotel did not have that so we had to go out and purchase one. There also was no blow dryer in the room. The bathroom was extremely tight that if you wanted to use the toilet you certainly couldn’t go in and sit down on the toilet and close the door after you. You had to work your way around the door to close it and then use the facility. We also asked for extra towels and wash cloths and were told that they ran out. What probably upset me the most though was how well you could hear through the walls. I did notice earlier in the evening while I was awake that I could hear our next-door neighbors TV. To the extent that I could hear words that were being said. Then our next-door neighbors decided to get passionate at about 230 in the morning. Their extreme love making practices woke me up to the point where I could hear him spanking her and what she was saying to him. In the morning we heard the guests on the opposite side of our room having a fight. We could hear what they were saying. Obviously, this is an issue for the hotel and privacy.
