Disappointing

Reviewed 3 december, 2021

I was hoping that I would find a nice quaint and clean hotel. It certainly is quaint… But tired might be a better word for it. While the staff was very nice the whole experience was very disorganized. They assured me for example that breakfast would be served at 7 AM. But upon check-in one of the team members actually said it was 7:30 AM so I modified my morning schedule accordingly as I needed to depart. However the restaurant never did open… And while checking out someone told the front desk while I was standing there “oh by the way we are not serving breakfast on Friday anymore.” The room was clean but old. There were stains in the carpet for example. The room was so hot that regardless of the temperature setting of the AC unit I had to sleep with the window open while it snowed outside. I was really hoping to like this hotel as I have to make several trips back to the area in the coming months. But I will continue to search for better options…

Not a fan

I was excited to stay at the hotel but from start to finish it was not a good experience. We booked and let it be known we would be bringing a boat. Got there and the only two trailer spots were taken by single cars and then were told there was no launch spot at the hotel site. We paid dearly for our room on the lake side and then were awakened at 7:45 by extremely loud banging which turned out to be a maid going in and out of the room directly across from us, slamming the door every time....for a total of 17 times. We ate breakfast there and the best part was a seagull that came and stole the toast.

Very dirty and has gone downhill since our last visit

Reviewed 10 october, 2021

Very run down for such a great location! They charge a 10 percent resort fee, but the pool was locked and the key pad was not working. Sauna was out of order. The bowling alley was broken and is being used as a storage room. Our King room with balcony was another disappointment. We paid extra for a balcony and there was so much greasy dirt and bugs in the track, that my husband had to force it open. I alerted the front desk, but they said "we don't have maid service." I asked for a broom, so I could sweep off the balcony plus tons of spider webs and dirt. I understand this is on a lake, but the dirt did not happen overnight. It really needed a good power washing. The carpet was dirty, tv remote didn't work, chip in the tub, dirt on the bathroom floor, no shampoo, conditioner or lotion and only one small bar of soap. Keurig coffee pot with no coffee. Need I go on? Big disappointment, and no help from the staff at all. On the positive, it's a short walk to the shops in town.

Way Overpriced

For costing $350/night (and that's with AAA discount), I would expect more. We stayed at the hotel, not the condos. The room and hotel was very outdated and run down. Peeling wallpaper, an air conditioner that was so loud it woke us up every time it turned on at night, the beds were not comfortable, a relative who stayed in a different room said there was a crack all along their bathroom mirror. It's neat being in a 100 year old building, but it desperately needs attention and updates. The front desk staff however were very nice, friendly, and helpful. The main pool is small but nice. There was another small pool, 4 ft deep, that was really cold (not sure what purpose that was, definitely not a hot tub!). Overall, the staff were very nice but the room and building really needs updates and fixes. I wouldn't recommend staying at the hotel.

Super Enjoyable Experience

My wife and I recently spent 2 nights at Chase on the Lake, and it was awesome. I can't say enough about everything including front desk, wait staff, and house keeping. Everyone was pleasant and helpful. The resort has several room types, but we picked a spacious lakeside balcony with an amazing view of Leech Lake. The bar/restaurant has a large deck that extends right up to the crystal clear waters of the huge lake. The food was extremely good and would highly recommend the almond crusted walleye. There is a paved bike trail right across the road that winds through dense forest and along lakes. This was such an enjoyable experience we booked a return for next summer. Well done Chase on the Lake!!
