The Wapiti Lodge is a wonderful place to stay. The cabins are spacious and clean. The beds are comfy and there is a kitchen with everything that you need to prepare a dinner or snack. The owners are super friendly and make you feel like family! We had dinner at the bar (a burger and some apps) and the food was so tasty. We also enjoyed some drinks and conversation with the owner and some of the locals. They were all fabulous and made us feel so welcome. The view from the bar is amazing - it doesn't even look real. There are tables outside to enjoy a beautiful night and even a fire pit and picnic tables. There is a river on the property which you can get to by going down a few stairs. We found a breakfast basket for us in the fridge that had bagels, cream cheese, oatmeal, apples, granola and some delicious orange juice. Our new friends jokingly told us to tell everyone Wapiti Wyoming is terrible because they want to keep this amazing place to themselves. But we had to share how beautiful Wapiti is to enjoy and also let everyone know that the Wapiti Lodge is THE PLACE to enjoy your time here. Everyone was so wonderful and it was so peaceful.

On a roadtrip from Miami, and had booked through Booking.com. First off, the new owners are very welcoming and friendly! Treated me to a fresh cheese stick which I gladly handed over to my daughter with a smile. The room was large, clean and very cozy. Beds were very comfortable. The grounds were beautiful and well kept. Location is about a 30 minute, beautiful drive to Yellowstone's east entrance and also a short drive to Cody for many food options. Wish we could have stayed longer.
AMAZING Experience! Will stay again!

My wife found Wapiti Lodge as an affordable and convenient place to stay outside of Yellowstone. As soon as we walked in - we knew we were staying in a great place! The (new) owners are very nice and welcoming, the food is AMAZING, the cabins are very clean and comfortable, and the view is OUT OF THIS WORLD! After having driven with my family from Atlanta to WY, this was our last stop before the 3-day trek home. It was a perfect opportunity for my wife and kids to relax and wind down before we have to get back in the car. If we ever visit WY again - there is no doubt we will stay here again. 5 stars!!! Thank you Wapiti for a great couple of days, you exceeded all our expectations and we can't wait to come back.
BAR REVIEW - Wapiti Lodge

The Wapiti Lodge Bar is the perfect place to enjoy a nice cold one and take in the beautiful views. I didn't try their menu but it looked like standard Western bar fare, burgers and such. You can get that anywhere, but the VIEW is priceless here!
Dark, noisy, musty basement room with small casement windows to the parking lot

We booked for three days believing this was a fun western lodge close to Yellowstone Park. When we arrived we were ushered into a basement room with two small casement windows looking out to the gravel parking lot at ground level. The dark room smelled of musty disinfectant and you could hear all the footsteps and conversations in the main lodge above. We then took off to explore the park and discovered the entrance is at least 30 miles away, so it takes at least 80 minutes to get to the main loop, each way - that is almost 3 hours a day of commuting to a dreary, depressing and noisy room. Fortunately we found last-minute walk-in lodging in the park itself at Lake Lodge so we drove back, collected our luggage from Wapiti and left that same day. No refund offered for the abandoned days, but we felt it was worth $600 not to have to stay there!!
