Not what I expected from a Marriott property
The lobby is difficult to find, no directional signs to assist. The front desk clerk was very nice when I checked in. The room is small but clean. The bathroom has been updated but the tile work is poor with missing grout. I always request no feather bedding because I'm seriously allergic. There were eight pillow in my room all feather. The night clerk was curt and dismissive when I asked if there were pillow without feather. I think that better training is necessary if they wish to carry the Marriott brand they need to maintain Marriot standards.
Comfortable & Accommodating
Small but comfortable rooms. Updated bathroom. Close to Starbucks. Short drive to other destinations. Nice room for the money. Very clean. Nice faculty. Loves the huge fireplace. Will stay there again when in the area again.
Very accommodating
We were here for a wrestling conference and the staff worked very hard to make sure things were great for us and helped us very much. Glendoris, in particular, was a very big help. Great rooms! Plus they have great food too.
Does not meet my expectations of a Marriott hotel.
This hotel is adjacent to a larger Marriott, connected by a skyway. What it appears to be is that Marriott bought an old hotel next door, made some surface improvements (lobby and hallways) and branded it under the Marriott umbrella. When I stay at a Marriott I have a certain level of expectation, I was so disappointed. I'll start with the positives -- the beds were comfortable, parking was easy, the staff was nice, and there was plenty of room. And, this is just a personal preference, but they have nice uncarpeted floors (I dislike carpet in a hotel room). If I were staying at a lower class hotel, I'd be really happy with this. But this is a Marriott. My room had hair all over the place. On the bed, in the bathroom, in the shower ... there was a clump of it under the sink. I suspect most is from the cleaning staff, maybe they should wear hair nets. The corners in the bathroom were dirty, and the doors were disgusting. Our main door looks like it hadn't ever been wiped down, and it grossed me out thinking of what I assumed people had smeared all over it. The bathroom door wasn't much better. To me, these cleaning details shouldn't be overlooked especially at a Marriott ... and especially during COVID when things should be the cleanest they've ever been! Also, it's an old hotel and has the old heating/cooling system and it's really hard to get a consistent temperature. Plus it's really loud. And no coffee in the morning? I know adjustments have to be made due to COVID, but I travel every other weekend, and every other hotel has coffee and some type of grab and go breakfast. Coffee at a minimum.
Friendliest Customer Service
During my stay in July of 2020, I encountered Glendoris. I am not exaggerating when I say she has to be THE most friendly customer service person I have ever encountered in my life. Every single person that came into the lobby was greeted with the same enthusiasm, smile, and genuine interest, no matter how many people passed through. My stay was a week long, and I watched this astonishing level of service happen day after day after day. My stay was nice, the room was fine, accommodations were good, and everything else about my time at this hotel was very satisfactory... BUT... it was worth being there, just to encounter Glendoris, and her electric, and contagious good-will, happiness, joy, and service to all the hotel guests. Well done.
