ADA rooms Do Not Meet ADA Guidlines

I stayed at this hotel when bringing my daughter to college at GW for her freshman year. Great location! I booked A mobility accessible room and it was horrible! I feel like they just stuck up grab bars to make it accessible. Toilet was lower than a standard toilet. Could not reach hand held shower because it was too far away. Towels are on a top shelf. Closet bar was up too high. I could go on and on. After arriving home I wrote to Marriott because I would never expect it to be this bad bad . They are planning on upgrading the room so they meet ADA standards but not until November 2022! I have no idea how they are getting away with this!

We arrived last night and there were only two small hand towels in the room. It is the next day afternoon and we still don't have towels provided! There is three of us, it is hot and humid and we need to shower and no towels!! They made a note last night to provide us with towels in the morning, we reminded them again at 9:30 am; still no towels. SO frustrating! We are paying over $220/day for this. No words!
Big Disappointment. Don’t expect a nice Marriott property here.

If you have been a client of a Residence Inn before, almost anywhere else in the country, don’t expect that kind of place here at the Foggy Bottom. Let’s start with their parking which you can buy of course, it’s underneath the building, but it’s $42 a night! And what you get is what’s in the pictures attached to this review. You are parking in a trash-filled, unkempt, poorly-lit, person-less, basement area with no Marriott signage of any kind. You would never know you were at a Residence Inn. It took me 10 minutes walking around the garage three times to figure out where I could actually get into this facility after parking! There was no one to help, no phone either to call the lobby, and there is no signage available to show you how to access the hotel. It’s like something out of a horror film. Absolutely disgusting and certainly not an expected perk of the Residence Inn. I finally found entry at an employee entrance with a propped open door for all bugs to walk right through with me. Then I get into a rickety old dank elevator. No signs, no welcome, looks like you’re going into some deserted building …certainly not a Marriott hotel in Washington D.C. This place is no where near the typical upscale Marriott facility. Absolutely terrible. I finally find my room and walk onto indoor outdoor looking carpet. Ugly and dirty with no pictures on the wall, no communication at all in the room that I’m even in a Marriott a Residence Inn. No welcome packet for the TV, nothing. There’s also a smell to this place…I’m not sure what it is. If I didn’t know better I would think I was in a two star or one star motel somewhere in the worst part of town. Marriott can do a hell of a lot better than what I got tonight. Besides all this, and the final insult, add cheap toilet paper. You can see the pictures. Was it livable for a night? I guess. Was it comfortable, enjoyable to be here, does it feel like you’re in a really nice place, absolutely not. Overall, I’d give this Residence Inn for appearance and function alone a D. And I’m a tour operator. I know, after being in millions of different hotels, what level of hotel and service I’m expecting from the brand I’ve chosen to go with that night. This Residence Inn falls far far short of any of those expectations with a Marriott facility. Dark, dank, not at all up to par.
The Hotel and The Front Desk Staff Needs alot of Work

We were here for a quick weekend getaway and was pleased to find out how close the hotel is to the airport, the National Mall, the Metro station, and nice restaurants. The hotel is itself was a bit of an afterthought. The front desk staff overall is terrible. Not friendly, not nice, not attentive, just overall rude. The hotel needs a good deep cleaning, considering that Saturday was the first official day that DC came out of the pandemic I would have expected the hotel to be cleaner. The elevator floors were not clean, the hallways were not clean, the rooms are small and are good need of updating and some TLC as well. We received no housekeeping services while there just a large bag of towels, sheets, etc left at the door by request. I would not recommend staying here at all.
A Quick Weekend Away

This was a nice hotel close to the Foggy Bottom metro station. The staff was nice and pleasant but the suite was lacking in attention. The toilet needed some work and leaked all over the floor. We told the FD about it and it was repaired the same day. There wasn’t any coffee creamer in the room and the hotel did not have any to give us so we had to purchase our own. Not a bad place to stay but needs some detailed attention to make it better.
