We had a great overnight stay and snow to add to the romantic setting. Everything was perfect. We had a beautiful room, fab view over the countryside, dinner and breakfast were excellent as was the service we received from every member of staff.
Worth it for the Evening Meal

My friend and I stayed for one night before attending NEC for a show, it looked to be a delightful place to stay. We arrived at 2pm, the front entrance was quite dusty and had cobwebs, the reception staff ignored us for five mins and continued to chat. We couldn’t get booked into the restaurant until 8pm but we weren’t too bothered as the hotel has leisure facilities and this would give us time to relax. Our twin room was nicely decorated and beds were comfortable (although I discovered later that they had used a double quilt cover for the single quilt). We decided to go to the bar to have a snack, we waited for staff to arrive but there were no staff. By this time it had gone 2:30pm so we went back to reception to ask for someone to get us a drink and something to eat, we were told hot food stops being served at 2:30pm…only cold sandwiches would be served after this time. We ordered a sandwich, a packet of salted peanuts and a pot of tea to share. Our food arrived, which was adequate but the tea tasted like they had used washing up water to make it and was undrinkable. Not a great start but we thought we would go try the leisure facilities. We grabbed our costumes and headed down to the pool, we were shown to the changing ”room”, just one small room with a toilet! No privacy, all girls together, open so that us ladies could watch each other change, mirrors everywhere so no matter where you looked you could see other women. We were shocked as in this day and age we all like our privacy! We took turns to change on the toilet but the floor was wet and leaking from the showers next door. The pool area is tired and has a Roman theme that is very dated. After swimming and relaxing for an hour we realised the edges of the pool, where the water was lapping up the edges, was brown! It certainly looked like it needed a good scrub. We moved to the jacuzzi for the next hour. The young woman working there was very polite. We decided not to go back into the changing room, instead we walked back to our room with our towels wrapped around us. 7:30pm we went to the bar for a pre dinner drink, the few chairs that were in the small bar were already taken so we sat in the main corridor near reception, at 8pm we went to the restaurant only to be told to go back out and wait, 10 mins late our table was ready. After our earlier experiences we were delighted to see plenty of staff moving about, we were served quickly with drinks and our food order was taken. The food served was an absolute delight! The chef is to be commended on his/her flavours, no wonder we had to eat so late, the restaurant was full. The staff were polite and very attentive. We returned to our beds with happy full tummies hoping our breakfast would be the same standard. At this point we discovered the yards of empty quilt cover tucked firmly under the mattress and the very small mattress toppers that were perched on top, our sleep was okay and we were excited to go get our breakfast. Breakfast was a shambles, we were told it was buffet but then we had to wait to be served it. On asking if there was only scrambled egg, the woman laughed and told me that was the only choice. All the hot food was mediocre and the sausages were dry and burnt. We were told we had to get our own toast but other tables were served it. The best part of breakfast was a decent pot of tea. Our observations were that it needs better management, some investment. Parts of this hotel are beautiful but need some TLC and a good clean. Please sort out the Christmas decorations, it looks like a child has just chucked them around, it could look Devine. If I lived locally I would definitely go back but only to eat in the evening in the restaurant.

My friend and I stayed for 1 night room clean and comfortable, dinner first class breakfast buffet style for hot and cold no choice of eggs just scrambled but were delicious. The bar area quite small so unable to get a seat shame it wasn’t larger other than that would stay here again.
Relaxing golf break in beautiful surroundings and delicious food

A comfortable hotel with excellent attentive staff made our break a wonderful experience. The restaurant menu, albeit short delivered some delightful meals throughout our stay. The rooms are well appointed with bath and shower and have decent WiFi throughout the hotel. I particularly enjoyed the 9 hole par 3 Championship golf course, loosing quite a few balls in the delightful little lakes.
