Beautiful Stay
After a different hotel cancelled our stay last minute, I was frantically trying to find the right accomodation that fitted our needs, the host got back to me very shortly and rest assured my mind was at ease. The guest apartment is very spacious and comfortable. I love how we got our own private courtyard and in each rooms we got our own aircon. I highly recommend this charming place, absolutely beautiful. Thank you again for accomodating our group, we'll definitely be back in the future :)
Been before, will go again
I’ve been to The Stirling Arms several times. I’m a “Cellar Card” holder so I’ll definitely be back again. Today was one of those days where you’re out with the kids and want to go somewhere for lunch. And after making a reservation The Stirling Arms is where a family of four ended up. The $5 pint is awesome, and the wife enjoyed her “large” wine. She ordered a pizza, the kids had nuggets and chips while I went for the steak sandwich. As you can see from the attached picture it looks magnificent. Garlic bread, onion rings, bacon - what’s not to like?!? Except my entire plate - chips, garlic bread and steak - was served lukewarm, at best!! The wife took it back into the bar from the alfresco area and apologised to the waitress as we have never sent food back to the kitchen before. Anywhere. The waitress accepted her complaint, came out to me and explained that the kitchen was cooking a whole new steak sandwich for me and when it arrived it was piping hot. The waitress checked a couple of times that everything was to my satisfaction. And really, the steak sandwich here is fantastic. Washed down with a cold beer and one cannot complain. Stirling Arms, this is the first time I’ve ever sent food back. Your waitress listened. Your kitchen listened. I left with a very full tummy and definitely going to be back for more.
Terrible food, worst Caesar ever
Went for lunch not expecting too much, but my god new lows were reached. “Wagyu” beef burger obviously from a packet managed half of it between me and the kids. Kids pasta was minging and never received the juice and dessert the was supposed to come with it. But the piece de resistance was the Caesar salad with chicken. I thought they had gotten the order wrong and brought out something with canned mushrooms on top. I don’t know where they got that dried up cat food from but it was trying to cover the near rotten cos lettuce covered overpowering sauce and burnt bacon bits. Right next to a busy road and no difference in the smoking and non smoking section. DO NOT EAT HERE. gave me a meal voucher when I wanted my money back. Like I would ever come back. I was so embarrassed for the chef that I just gave it to someone else’s and left.
Charming
Stayed one night before our flight. The hotel is the oldest operating hotel in Western Australia and is very charming. The hotel is over the restaurant/pub so noise could be an issue. Also, because stairs are necessary to reach the rooms, it is not recommended for those with mobility issues. The bed was comfortable and the room had a refrigerator. My only (mild) complaint is the door to the bathroom - it is a sliding door that doesn't close fully, so privacy is an issue. That being said, I would still recommend this hotel for the walkable location to lovely Guildford and the convenience to the airport.
A Must Stay
An Awesome affordable place to stay. Rooms clean and have that beautiful old history with a non working Fireplace and the old sash windows. Bed extremely comfortable. Been updated nicely and worth the $$$$. Adjoining is the Pub/Bar and Garden areas. Food was amazing and couldn't fault it an drinks were priced very well. $4.99 Cricketers pint. Other venues close by didn't compete in value. Special Mention to Kirsten one of the staff that goes up and beyond. She is an absolute asset to The Stirling Arms. They were busy yesterday and she worked it so well and was very polite and helpful all day. Yes we were there most of the day..lol.. A beautiful Country town also. Quiet and friendly people. Will return for sure.So close to Perth airport and its in the Swan Valley winery region.
