White’s City Cavern Inn
This is a nice motel with great staff. Rooms were clean and quiet. The motel has shops, stores, gasoline, post office, and laundromat within a very quick drive or a 2 minute walk. Very convenient. The motel is about a 5 minute drive from Carlsbad Caverns. It is also close to Guadalupe Mountains National Park, White Sands National Monument, and Roswell, NM. I used the motel as my base to explore them all saving The caverns until last. I enjoyed myself there and would stay again. Note: Make certain you check park times and availability online before traveling. With coronavirus everywhere, some parks are either closed to public (all Navajo Nation parks) or by reservation only (Carlsbad Caverns).
Leaky sink, phone and wifi not working. Staff need to wear masks and adjust their attitude.
Contrary to the hotel description on Tripadvisor, this hotel is indeed open to tourists and available for booking. Reservation for 2 nights made on Hotels.com. The hotel staff even called me to confirm my request for a quiet room. Located in close proximity to the Carlsbad Caverns, hence the much higher price compared to similar properties in southern New Mexico. First impression upon arrival was decidedly negative: I walked into the tiny lobby and, despite big signs at the door, neither the staff nor the guest present were wearing masks. I was assigned a room which turned out to have a large water leak under the sink. The door latch was also missing. I was moved to another room at the end of the property, where the plumbing was in working order, but the phone didn't work and there was no wifi for the first 24 hours (there was wifi the second night, but so slow to be unusable). The room was clean, with comfortable beds and pillows. Amenities included coffee maker, fridge and microwave. Desk area with conveniently located power jacks. Bathroom with everything in working order; good water pressure in the shower. It was quiet most of the night, but housekeeping starts well before 08:00, going back and forth with very loud carts. Breakfast (muffins, coffee) provided in the tiny lobby - no masks or distancing. The staff initially refused to give me a receipt, even though payment was made directly to the property. They eventually relented after I showed them the Hotels.com website, which stated it was their responsibility. On the first day the staff (Mario) indicated that a price adjustment would be provided at check out, but none materialized. Overall grossly overpriced for the facilities and service provided.
Best Hotel Staff!
This is a nice motel close to Carlsbad Caverns National Park. My friend and I were hiking the Guadalupe Ridge Trail and used the Cavern Inn as our base camp. The rooms are spacious, and clean. The beds are really comfortable. Amenities and breakfast are minimal. There is pizza available in the lobby. The staff is the best. Michelle made us feel welcome, Valerie shuttled me to a trailhead to pick up my vehicle, and Mario carried my friend's pack to our room after my friend had sprained her ankle. The service provided by the staff is so above and beyond! They make you feel very special.
Great value, great location. Loved this place!
Staff was friendly and nice. Room was large, clean and nicely furnished. Bed was amazing! Yes, pool was drained, but understandable in light of current CoVid conditions. SO convenient to Carlsbad Caverns - just a short, 7 mile drive to the Visitor's Center. I was impressed enough that I wished I was staying here more than one night! Just be aware that when you book online, you pay upfront with a credit card and if you cancel (why would you ever want to cancel staying here??), you forfeit a deposit - be sure to read their policy. Also, be sure that you print your receipt because I did not get a confirmation email like the website said I would.
I don't see White's City surviving Covid
The pool and slide are closed and drained. The cable television doesn't work, the phones in the rooms don't work. There is no place to eat, and the free breakfast is reduced to a joke. Although there were only a few guests in the entire hotel they put us on the second floor. There were guests on either side of us.
