Stayed here with my mum who uses a wheelchair as she cant walk far Chris, General Manager greeted us and was friendly, professional and helpful Rooms were cosy and perfect especially the fantastic " accessable" room mum had, huge wet room, panic cords, everything to make me relax when in my own room Food was lovely Sam was fab to mum & I and pub completely set up for covid safety, we didn't have a single thought if not being safe. If in this area again, I wouldnt hesitate returning to stay here
Not good
Too interested in taking our money than any customer service. Told us where our room was and we had to find it. Room was scruffy, shower head did not fit into its holder so kept falling. Electric heater had feet missing so would not stand upright. If we go that way again would stay somewhere else, as not happy with the place.
Excellent Sunday Lunch
We visited my mother in law in Swindon, and as I had recently been diagnosed with Coeliac disease needed to find somewhere that served gluten free. I am fed up of having to go to the 'chains' to eat out and wanted a decent Sunday lunch. This pub was listed on the 'Coeliac society' website so we booked here. Most of the menu was gluten free so there was ample choice, I had roast beef with all the trimmings followed by sticky toffee pudding and ice cream, the quality was excellent. My plates were clearly marked Gluten free and were brought out first to avoid contamination. One of our other party was Vegetarian and she said her food was first class as well.
Brilliant Accommodation
We stayed here last night and was really impressed with the rooms. They are set away from the main pub in their own 2 storey block. We had a ground floor room which was very spacious and clean. Nice modern decor. The rooms were very comfortable and warm if not a little too warm but able to control with wall heaters. Only disappointment was the beds, very hard and uncomfortable. We also ate in the pub and both our meals were excellent and also great service. Would definitely recommend here and will definitely be back again.
Pleasantly Surprised
I hadn’t booked this myself so had no preconceptions but I was expecting something perhaps old and dated. However, it was anything but. When we walked in I thought how lovely and spotless it was. A good sized room and the bathroom an ample size. Loved the shower. Plenty of hot water and no issues with the power. The bed was comfortable, the way we like it. The hair dryer is also powerful and much better than most you usually get in a hotel. Also a very good choice of coffee and various types of tea. Above all, although there was a function going on, there was no noise, not even from the nearby car park. I have stayed in 3 and 4 star hotels where the rooms have not been as good. I would definitely consider staying here again.
