New years eve
We stopped here for New Year’s Eve and stayed for two nights in the trourmtbeck room and we loved it there. The view from the hotel room was spectacular as we overlooked the lake. The rooms was lovely and relaxing and clean. The owners Fernando and Yvonne along with all the hotel staff were friendly, warm, welcoming and couldn’t do enough for us and we really were made to feel at home. The Full English breakfast was an absolute wonderful to enjoy . Can’t wait to visit again in the future. Thank you Fernando & Yvonne

New Year's Eve dinner
We booked our meal at the last minute on 31st December, and stopped by, earlier that day, to check out where we would be dining later. From the moment we arrived we were made to feel welcome by our host. We were greeted by the proprietor - Fernando - who showed his natural skill of making people feel special. He took us around the hotel with obvious pride, pointing out various features. My partner has travelled extensively around the world (70 countries), and on being told that Fernando was originally from Mexico, an enthusiastic conversation ensued on that country, as well as fine art, classical music, and the arts and crafts movement - with which the hotel is blessed with several examples. We returned later on that evening for our meal and were not disappointed. The atmosphere was both welcoming and intimate, the food top notch. The hotel itself is a fascinating example of a country house of the early 20th century - which has been lovingly restored towards its former glory. The location - overlooking Lake Windermere is charming, and the garden extensive. We returned the following day to see the lake view and garden in the daylight, and Fernando and his wife again shared their time with us even though they were exhausted after the previous late night. Certainly this was the high-point of our stay in the Lakes. Nothing was too much trouble for our host, and I have no hesitation in thoroughly recommending the Miller Howe. Muchas Gracias Fernando!
Rather disappointing......
Having stayed on a number of previous occasions and wanting to thank some friends I booked two rooms. Everything was a shambles from start to finish. I think the staff wanted to please but the boss got in the way all the time. From being told we should ask for milk in our room but there was nothing to advise us, then no milk was left in our room. To drinks served incorrectly to average food to uncleared lounge tables. The room was very basic saved only by the fantastic views. This hotel charges a very premium price for a not so premium service. Whilst we stayed I looked up the Sharrow Bay rates for that night and it was cheaper! Fernando is a good guy and his heart is in the right place but I don’t think we’ll be back.
Hotel with history and a future
I stumbled across this little gem while looking for a place to have a coffee. I stayed 3 hours. Lovely spot great atmosphere. There is a new owner and he is rebuilding this great establishment to enjoy its heritage so we can also enjoy
