I wanted to like this place, but ultimately, had a not-very-good experience here
I really wanted to love this place, but cannot in good conscience give it a very good review after staying there recently. On the plus side, our room was spacious, but it had a very odd layout and shape. The sloped shower and toilet areas, in particular, coupled with the unusually long walk down the corridor to get to the toilet from the sleeping area, were annoying. The room was much too warm (about 75 degrees upon arrival) and only got warmer, not cooler, when we set the thermostat to a cooler temperature, leaving us around 80 degrees. We had to open the windows in order to get some cooler air inside, and that, unfortunately, led to traffic noise from the highway coming in as well. Our room came with no cups, no mini-fridge, no microwave, no clock. Breakfast was offered only for one hour AND it was offered at a time that was so late that we, like most travelers, were unable to avail ourselves of it. So the second B in the B&B nature of this place was an epic fail "out of the gate." Also, this property has nobody available to help after about 9pm, and again nobody was available to check us out when we departed at 7:30am the next day. For the not-inconsequential amount that we paid to stay at the Chateau, it simply was not even close to worth the money. If passing through the area again at any point in the future, we definitely would NOT stay here. Once bitten, twice shy.
Under new management - Wonderful Experience!
I would encourage readers to take into account that there is new management as of August 2020. The Innkeepers are amazing, helpful, accommodating, and very polite. The room was the perfect getaway. It was quiet, the property beautiful with a gazebo in the back, and an amazing jacuzzi on a balcony overlooking the town. I was made a separate breakfast that was an alteration of the breakfast due to my dietary restrictions. I HIGHLY recommend this place and will be going again.
A little slice of paradise
My wife and I stayed here after a drive thru Rocky Mountain National Park. What a great stay we had. The room was perfect with a comfy king size bed and large bathroom suite. Ten feet from our rooms door was a balcony with the B&B’s nice big hot tub. We took advantage! It is just off the main road in town, so it is easy to find but keeps road noise to a minimum. If the virus goes away, we hope to come back to hit the ski slopes just a few miles away. The rates were very reasonable, too! Richie P Longmont, CO
Wonderful B&B
My girlfriend (now fiancee) and booked the Durango room Sept 5-6 to celebrate our 2 year anniversary. When we arrived we were welcomed warmly. They upgraded us at no charged to Vail room. It is comfortable, quiet, and charming. Coffee, conversation, and breakfast was good. We has a short but great stay. We will return. Thank you very much.
Awful - Read This
As a Top 2% TripAdvisor writer, this is my first 1 star rating. All the latest ratings are very poor, and the ratings should be adjusted by TripAdvisor because it is not even close to being accurate. (TripAdvisor should ask to have their recommend sticker removed from the window) We booked directly and paid $100 more than the online booking services. My wife’s mistake for booking directly, but she was hoping for an enjoyable stay which she thought would be reflected in the price. Huge FOR SALE sign in front. When we drove up and saw the For Sale sign we immediately knew it could be scary. Room extremely small and hard to move about, dirty and an awful experience. Dreadful towels and furnishings. This place needs lots of work and desperately needs an upgrade. Sink next to bed, toilet and shower in dimly lit space like a closet. Visible cords, dirty carpet which needed to be stretched. Extremely over priced! Decor - YUK! Breakfast below average for a B&B. (No gourmet chef here) Photos online must be old and does not represent what you’re going to get. I strongly would recommend to go elsewhere. So disappointing…
