Highly recommend. Very clean and well maintained. Check-in was a breeze, very friendly staff. We were given menus to choose our hot breakfast items for the next morning. Beds were comfy. The next morning, I headed downstairs and our breakfasts and drinks were well marked and waiting for us. Delicious breakfast sandwiches and the kids loved their oatmeal cookies. One of our favorite features was the heated, underground parking. That's a plus for December in Wisconsin. We will definitely stay here again.
Great Service. Choice Hot Breakfast
Upon check-in, I was pleasantly surprised to be offered a menu for a hot breakfast. We submitted our order in the evening and picked it up at the appointed time. Bacon, scrambled eggs, fried potatoes, cereal, orange juice, coffee. The menu changed slightly every day so if you are staying for several days, there will be some variety. Staff was helpful and recommended a wine bar (Toots and Kates) when we asked about a distillery that turned out to be closed on Saturdays. COVID safe measures made us confident that there would be no spread. Underground parking available. Really a good value.
Was not open
We booked the Fairfield inn and suited for a last minute trip. While we were walking around the Capitol and the UW-MADISON campus, my husband checked us in. When we arrived, 3 hours later, hot and tired, we found a note on the door telling us it was closed due to an emergency and our reservation would be honored at the Holiday Inn Express. While, we were able to get a room at the holiday inn, they did not have a reservation for us. And when we called the reservation line to see if the points we used would still be honored to pay for our room, the customer service agent kept trying to tell us that her computer showed it was open. And we waited greater than 10 minutes to talk to an agent. And she never once said she was sorry for the inconvenience. I’m not sure where the communication broke down but I can’t believe we were allowed to check in online to a closed hotel and no one tried to call us an alert is to the closed hotel. Disappointed in the lack of communication.
Great summer visit!
Fairfield Inn has adapted to the obstacles COVID-19 has thrown at the travel world. Having traveled earlier in the pandemic, the standard breakfast buffet seemed to have turned into a brown paper bag with a Great Value granola bar, a bottle of water and a sad little apple. Not so at Fairfield! When we checked in, we were given a choice of options for our breakfast- including HOT items. We made our choices and went down to pick it up the next morning. We said we wanted our food at 8:30 and it wasn't there at 8:20, getting cold. It was hot and ready at 8:30. The pool was open too but we needed to ask for a key in order to keep numbers down in the pool area. Everyone we encountered was friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and clean. I especially liked the large shower with Paul MItchell toiletries. We'll be back to Madison and this will be our first choice of hotels.
Nice hotel outside Madison
We normally try and stop in Platteville or Mt. Horeb on our way home to Green Bay but made it to Verona just south of Madison on this trip. The hotel looks pretty new and is just down the street from a Holiday Inn Express in an area that looks like a neighborhood otherwise. The room was nice with the usual amenities you would expect (flat screen TV, nice beds, WiFi, etc). One nice bonus was Netflix access right on the TV. Breakfast was very good as well with several hot options in addition to normal continental fare. Room was $111. Would stay here again.
