More about the hotel
The best situated hotel at the market place— in the town- center
Being most cordially welcome— an extremely well handled check- in: hospitality at its best. The personnel at the reception always willing to help ant to make your stay easy. The check- out efficient: and provoking the desire to return to this hotel and to enjoy its comfort. The restaurant: the kitchen as well as the service excellent. I had a phantastic steak( great quality and well prepared). The wine selection quite good. Hopefully: after the renovation and the tajeover by Wirtshaus Joseph the quality of the kitchen as well as of the service will be maintained. My standard room spacious enough and comfortable. To be commended: available a secretary for work and good lighting. And enough hangers for clothes. To be improved in the ongoing renovation process: the sauna. A spectacular view over the town from the sauna-terrace at the top floor. As the Shaba seems to be quite popukar( not only among guests): tgecsauba needs to be enlarged. To the restaurant: Mrs. Doreen to be thanked for her recommendations and excellent service.Abd of course: not to forget the dedicated personnel at the front-desk. An good corps d’esprit the new owner of the hotel should continue to take care of and to further qualify.
Just good
We enjoyed a December weekend with Christmas market just outside the door. Nice welcome by the reception, nice room and quiet during the night. Breakfast was exxcellent without being busy. The inetrnet worked well. The only small complain was parking, as the hotel parking was full and we had to find a public parking in the darkness. Walking distance after parkign was short.
Alway a pleasure to stay at Steigenberger

What’s in a name
When you book a hotel with Steigenberger in its name, you expect Steigenberger quality throughout. When checking more carefully, however, we found out that the hotel only “borrows” the Steigenberger name- rather disappointing. Whilst no one can fault the location of the hotel nor the room standards (good but feels a bit dated) the bar attached to the hotel leaves room for improvement. It describes itself as a “wine bar” - which raised my expectations as whilst not a connoisseur by any stretch of the imagination, I do enjoy a glass of wine. I asked if he could recommend a dry red wine and the waiter enthusiastically proclaimed he had exactly the right one. He brought me one to try and it was one of the sweetest wines I had- so I said that that was “a bit too sweet for me”. He rudely replied that it wasn’t a sweet but a dry wine. Honestly, it was so sweet it had nothing on a grape juice from Aldi. Anyway I then asked for my normal favourite, a Shiraz and that was ok. My mother then discovered they had a wine menu on the table that even identified dry vs sweet wines. The one he had first offered me was one out of only 2 sweet wines on the entire menu! So he hadn’t even read their own guidance...
centrally located and with own garage
The hotel is walking distance to all of Wismar's sites. And the hotel has car parking which is not overpriced. The rooms are fairly new with comfortable bed and have shower and toilet. The reception staff was very friendly and welcoming and the room price was okay.
