We pre booked online for a late afternoon table to suit our ferry crossing. The staff greeting us were friendly. It was the food that was disappointing and the way a mistake in the kitchen was handled which made us quite uncomfortable. My small glass of wine was definitely the smallest measure I've ever had in my life. The chips were soft and pale and powdery definitely not triple cooked so my son left them. I ordered a vegan dish but some key ingredients were left out which, I couldn't tell without my glasses on. I tried several mouthfuls which were nice but frankly it was not all the ingredients on the menu I'd ordered so I just gave the dish back, I could hear the situation being talked about with other staff! To my surprise the same plate then came back out after about five minutes with the added ingredients! I explained I did want the dish back after being tampered with and now cold I'd rather just forget it. Then it was clear staff were talking about the issue as I could hear..and no staff approached us again to see if I wanted anything else or any pudding was wanted. 44 pounds was begrudgingly paid. How the mistake was handled was the worst part.
Worth a visit - not if you were thinking of eating

Arrived on time for a reservation at 7pm Shown our table and sat looking at menus After a few minutes we were asked if we would like a drink, and after ordering the drinks arrived So far so good Waitress asked for our food order and the night was going great Then the food came Soup accompanied by stale bread - we waited for a while to see if anyone would come to see if our food was ok but after a while my wife decided to go to the bar and ask for another piece of bread 20 minutes later a waitress approached our table to tell us that the chef was unhappy with all the bread and had thrown it out My wife asked for another piece of bread and this arrived after about 10 minutes This is 30 minutes in and we have had a starter and a wait for bread Then we waited for our mains - after a while we noticed that tables that came in after us were being served their mains and we hadn’t had ours We decided to cut our Losses and decided to leave When we went to the bar and asked for our bill we were greeted with “Thanks that’s £59.00” We said we never received our mains - this apparently came as a shock to the staff We paid for the drinks we had had and left wishing that we hadn’t bothered booking in advance and ended up going elsewhere for our dinner. Nice to know that the waiting staff are being paid to stand around , put lipstick on and lean against the wall instead of looking after customers, and in such a crisis where places are crying out for staff All in all - a complete waste of time
Service at the restaurant was slow and poor

our meal was pre-booked at 12.30pm with the Inn knowing in advance our individual orders. Despite this we were kept waiting for 30 minutes . Further, my son was the last to be service, at least 10 minutes after the first of out party was served. My order of steak with peppercorn sauce came in three parts, with the peppercorn sauce (very weak with little 'punch') coming several minutes after the steak. At the bar I had ordered two soft drinks and found the bill came to over £9. When I asked why I found I was being charged for THREE drinks. as the money had already been taken from my card I took the extra drink. And one more comment - the main waitress serving us did her best but never smiled once - it would have made such a difference,

Me and my friend like to go out for dinner once a week and he suggested the fishbourne inn. We had fish and chips, it was huge and well worth it. The service was great, staff were fantastic and it was so nice to chat with them all. Definitely going to return soon to get my pudding 😀

Had a few nights here chosen due to proximity of ferry port. It is a fairly quiet spot with some nice walks (like Quarr Abbey) nearby. The staff were generally pleasant. The room was clean, but some maintenance work needed. It is a bit dated facilities wise. There is a good amount of outside space and a pleasant garden. Breakfast was a bit of a lottery and you didn’t always get what you asked for.
