Nice sight with good rooms
I stayed here for two nights whilst visiting Calakmul. The service was friendly and my room was nice if a little noisy with all the people walking past. I had breakfast here as well which was good but with rather slow service. A convenient (not far from the ADO) and good value place to stay.
2 rooms 2 days
Price way higher than quoted - we tried to book these rooms and they were not available So it was much more $$$$ Decent place - food service was slow but better than the food in town I certainly enjoyed the area - wished I had had time for more
prepare to get up early
The rooms were great for the most part. No complaints. However, the cleaning staff arrives at 6am, and the cleaning supplies are behind loud steel doors that you can hear throughout the hotel as they open and close. I wanted to get up early. But not that early. And I would have been really annoyed if I had wanted to sleep in. Who on Earth has people coming to clean at 6am? This place. Also, it seems like the employees are worked like dogs here. It was some (maybe all?) of the same people at 11pm as 6am. Yikes!
Good hotel for 1 or 2 nights
We ended up here after fleeing from Rio Bec Dreams. Basic hotel offers value for money. Rooms are ok, airco sufficient. Staff very kind, but with limited English. Water pressure during our stay was very low, very little water from shower. The lady in the kitchen cooks a great meal. Everything is fresh, tasty and homemade, The (rather spicy) guacamole was the best we had in Mexico! The fresh juices were outstanding. The sandwiches are very nice and handy for your visit to Calakmul (2 h 15 min drive from the hotel, the last 30 km the road is very bad).
Best place to visit Calakmul
We stayed for 2 nights in Maya Balam. Great place to visit Calakmul. Our room was clean and freshly painted. AC, fan, hot water worked perfectly. The food on the ground restarant was delicious & we also got lunch boxes for our day trips. Wifi was not very strong, but ok. One morning the hot water did not work for 2h, but no compliant, we were in the dry season anyhow.
