Fantastic Staff, Nice Property, Awful Beach

The GOOD: Management staff (hello, Carson!) were wonderful and super dedicated to making our stay pleasant; the property (pools, green space, etc.) is in relatively good shape; the "Ocean View" room was actually great - offered a fantastic view of the water and smelled nice and clean (no residual cigarette smell despite ash trays present in every room); consider springing for the suite - the extra space is worth the money; the golf course next door was very, very nice; tennis courts were available on the property. The AVERAGE: Only one buffet restaurant on or near the property and it was 80% local food; in-room dining is available but they were often sold out of the Western options; about three staff members could speak English - but they always made an effort to find an English speaker for us. The spa was fine but not great. The BAD: The beach is absolutely terrible - the hotel's "private" beach space is completely overwhelmed by non-hotel companies selling jetski rides, parasailing, and other water "adventures." There is no room on the bench to set a chair or towel because it's covered in these vendors' canopies... and they hassle you to buy something the minute you set foot on the sand. Further, the hotel recommends you stay OUT of the ocean because of these companies, which makes me think that swimmers are in danger from these "adventure companies" zooming back and forth along the coastline. The beach is a rotten experience that will make us think twice before returning.

It’s a fabulous resort with all the facilities you need to chill or explore with your children for a short break. The room is spacious with a balcony to refresh and overlooks the long beach that is beautiful. The beach waves is a bit rough, so is not recommended but the outdoor pool (they have an indoor too) is just next to the beach so the breeze is great! Would suggest for a self drive for easy accessing the island’s restaurants and other places.

Enjoyed my stay here. The hotel is very close to the beach and not too far from other scenic areas. It has two swimming pools and I do recommend the outdoor one if weather permits. The lobby provides stunning sea views, a perfect spot for photos. Breakfast includes lots of choices. The buffet is also as good. Membership recognition was effortless and I enjoyed all the benefits. Staff were friendly and helpful. I would like to thank Winnie from the front desk, for a smooth check in. All in all, this hotel provides great value and hospitality.

Go off season for some royal treatment

We visited this hotel mid-November, long after the crowds had left the island, but the weather was still very pleasant. Most of the pools and hot tubs were closed (some due to a recent typhoon), but it was warm enough to swim. The service was absolutely fabulous. With just my Gold membership, I was treated like an emperor, with free drinks at the bar, an upgrade to a spacious luxury suite and a balcony overlooking the ocean. In the room was a fresh fruit basket and cookies and milk at night. The free breakfast spread in the morning was truly befitting a high class establishment with many choices both Chinese and Western. I'm certain I wouldn't have received such treatment during busier times, but because we were one of the few visiting mid-week, we were really taken care of at a level I have never seen before in China.

Beautiful views, smelly room

The views were amazing, and the grounds appeared to be wonderful for families. I stayed in room 2718, and the climate control could not keep up with the heat and humidity, no matter how low I set the temperature. The room was comfortable, but smelled strongly like a moldy basement. I found the room light controls difficult to use, but after some practice I was able to figure out how to turn the lights off. The hotel staff was friendly, even though they did not speak any English. Google Translate was able to get me checked in and fed. The buffet quality was pretty poor compared to other hotel dining options at international hotels.
