Located 8km from the northern entrance, the beautiful, family hotel offers comfortable accommodation units and exquisite dining in a casual setting. The hotel was named after the steaming limestone terraces just above the hotel area, which feature bubbling hot springs, thunderous waterfalls, fascinating wildlife and steaming geysers. Elk, deer and bison are abundant around the colourful steaming terraces and hot springs. In the early days, the hotel's visitors began their park exploration at this hotel. Very nice historic hotel in Mammoth Hot Springs

We were stuck in the Mammoth Hot Spring area due to the winter weather and had to change our reservation or one night from Old Faithful Snow Lodge to stay here since the roads were closed. The staff was very accommodating and was able to get a hotel room here. The room was very nice, quite and comfortable. The hotel is beautiful and had lots of space to sit without lots of people around. We were able to spend the whole day exploring the area.
Best place we stayed in Yellowstone, want to return for 3 nights

Best of 6 lodgings! Beds / bathroom clean ,modern ,comfortable. Charming outside sitting area and elk wandering around everywhere! Great dinner a few steps away and nice gift shop, icecream, bar etc. Great deal at under $200. Park right by cabin. No WiFi, phone, tv air conditioning in cabin but that is true everywhere in Yellowstone. WiFi at stores and office. Great stay! Our favorite place. Also stayed at canyon lodge twice as much $ and 10 times worse. Colter bay cabins in grand Teton great too, silvergate s whispering pines cabin very good (outside NE Yellowstone entrance), Old Faithful Snow lodge good. Bulging Elk at Mammoth cabins make it #1 Hope this helps!
Best hotel stay in Yellowstone

We stayed at two other locations in Yellowstone and this was definitely the best. This was clearly a grand hotel back in the day. The rooms were clean and comfortable. The staff was, for the most part, friendly. The setting is very pretty - near hiking trails - and it was fun seeing all of the elk around the hotel. We must have seen 20+ of them sitting on the lawn when we looked out of our hotel window! My biggest complaint was the lack of breakfast options. You have one choice: The map room, which offers coffees, yogurts and some pre-packaged baked goods. We drove to Gardner which had many more options.

Older cabin probably dating from 1930's. Clean and well-maintained. Very small, with limited space for moving around. OK for couple, a little small with more than two people. No AC. Good lighting. Shower big enough. Front porch with seating.
I enjoyed my Cabin!

We drove the upper loop and was so happy to have a reservation at the cabins. It was just enough for one night. If I had to stay longer that would have been another story. The cabin was nested in a cute little community of small cabins. It was cozy and warm. A bit dusty with some webs in the windowsills but nothing too scary. Clean restroom with clean towels. There were beautiful Elk roaming the area right outside our cabin door! Close enough to walk to the Springs and close enough to drive to Gardiner for breakfast and dinner (about 15 mins). We also drove to nearby Lamar Valley which is simply beautiful!
