Astor York Hostel
The building is Victorian and in great condition. The rooms are clean warm and welcoming with reasonably comfortable beds and fresh clean linen. The facilities are clean there is a huge kitchen a comfortable lounge a bar and an outside terrace. The staff are friendly and helpful and there is an interesting group of guests. Conversation was easy and stimulating. The hostel is in a quiet street a few minutes walk from the centre and station. A hidden gem!
Great staff and nice place.
Used this hostel when I visited York. Really nice staff and a great hostel. I found it clean and room was quite large. Nice little garden area and a small car parking area too. It is about a 15 min walk into York centre and there is so much to do there. I will use Astor York again next time I'm in York.
Fantastic Stay
We stayed at the Astor Hostel with 2 small children. We had our own private room with an ensuite bath/shower, toilet and sink. The room had two adult bunk beds, a chair and a wardrobe. The beds were comfortable and clean. We needed extra pillows which were provided with no problems. The room is very basic but clean and sufficient. The staff were friendly and helpful. We watched a family film at night with a big cinema screen and everyone was lovely. Breakfast is provided (cereals and toast) for free all they ask for is a one pound donation for charity. Our first experience of a hostel stay and definitely not our last!
Great, friendly place
Amazing place to stay, very homely place. They are very welcoming as there are spaces to chill or a nice bar you can have a few drinks at. Would highly recommend this hostel, one of York’s hidden gems.
Fantastic, can't wait to visit again!
Such a wonderful place, I miss it already!! We stayed for 2 nights and loved every minute! My two children and I had a private room + bathroom which were perfect - clean, warm, quiet and comfortable! The lounge was a fantastic area to socialise, join in with quiz night and for the children to enjoy a movie in the evening (with complimentary popcorn, cookies and pizza!). The free breakfast (or £1 donation to charity) was just what we we needed before heading out into the town which was an easy 10-15 minutes stroll, and there's also a convenience shop and takeaway within a short walk too. The large (and beautifully decorated) open-plan kitchen, dining and bar areas were brilliant spaces to have the use of instead of being confined to your one room in a hotel, and the overall atmosphere was just so relaxed, inviting and fun! Lastly I want to thank the staff/Astor York Family (I won't name you all in case I miss someone!) for being so wonderful, kind, helpful and for making our first hostel experience such an enjoyable one!! We hope to see you again soon!♡
