Moxy York

I stayed here in Feb with my fiance. The location is fab, you can see the Minster and it is a 5 minute walk to the centre of town (The Shambles). It's located next door to the Black Swan which is a point of interest due to it's haunted history. The hotel itself offers a trendy and newly renovated vibe. It has hipster qualities about it which definitely appeal to people of all ages. Staff are friendly and the lounge is very spacious, with plenty of seating, with comfortable armchairs, large dining tables and bar stools. There are books, board games and a table football game. Breakfast is an option, however it is continental so we did not opt for this during our stay. The menu looked delicious, however we did not eat there so I cannot comment on the food. The rooms are very clean, modern with nice lighting. The bathroom is small, but clean and gets the job done. There are no coffee/tea making facilities in the room, however there is unlimited tea/coffee downstairs by reception. I would certainly recommend this hotel as it is something a little different/quirky and in an excellent location.

Welcomed by Lauren who was super friendly and an excellent host. Felt a student vibe in this hotel, very modern and trendy. Room was perfect size, just found the cleanliness wasn't up to scratch really. I rolled out the shower mat and it certainly wasn't clean showing a black mark, it didn't bother me too much but for a new ish hotel I wouldn't have expected this. Also the motion light underneath the bed was an absolute pain every time I would move or go toilet it would switch on, disturbing the other person. I can see why they thought having tea/coffee facilities in reception is more "modern" as apposed to being in the room, but lets be honest, its nice to wake up to the option of a drink without moving out of the room. Really don't think they thought this one through. Not sure I would book to stay here again because for me personally its the little things that make all the difference and I found I was moaning about the little things. But the staff were brilliant and the location was spot on.

I visited this hotel with my boyfriend for his birthday. Excellent hotel, lovely and modern! Friendly staff. The room was clean and spacious enough for us. Free coffee and tea facilities in the lobby. Excellent location, only a short walk from the shops and bars. We were able to leave our bags during the day too which we appreciated. Easy check in and check out. Will definitely recommend this hotel to friends and family and would like to return in the future. Thank you Moxy!

Stayed here over the weekend, rooms were adequate for our needs. Clean, tidy with a comfortable bed. Hotel staff were very welcoming, free rum punch at the bar was a bonus! Perfect location a few minute walk from the centre of York. We parked in Que park, you receive 20% off your parking if you scan the ticket when checking out. Will certainly be back!

The rooms are very clean and the location is good (most things are +/- 5 min walking). It was a very cozy hotel with a nice lobby with a lot of games that you can play. The only thing is that some parts of the hotel could have been a bit clearer (coffee stand). I would go again!
