Rude Front Desk Employee
I stopped by the front desk to ask a simple questions and the man working was so rude and very unhelpful. I am definitely not staying at this property. The property otherwise was in good shape, just a bad interaction with a jerk employee.
Mostly Great
I had a very hard time choosing between 3 and 4 stars. We rented the “one bedroom suite”, one of their nicer rooms, from 8/13-8/16, 2020. The hotel itself is gorgeous. Perfectly placed geographically for everything Yountville. The staff CRUSHED COVID-19, perfect sanitation while minimizing the impact on the guest experience. Breakfast is still WONDERFUL. The maids still turn down the room every day - and they are the superstars of the facility. Perfection. We were greeted with a free bottle of Stewart wine - which is a great local winery that I became a member with ultimately - and the room was immaculate and wonderful. We were able to check in without talking to a soul - and while glitchy sometimes, the mobile room key process is ultimately for the better. Pro tip - open the app and start trying to unlock your room when you’re 5 or so seconds away. By the time you get to the door, you’ll be golden. Now why did I debate giving this experience three stars? The front desk. On our check in night - maybe around 8pm on 8/13, I approached the front desk to ask about wine tasting bookings, because I had read the hotel gave many free tastings to its customers. Unfortunately, my travel companion & I were greeted by a gentleman, who either #1 is perpetually terrible at customer service or more likely #2 chose to judge us for the fact we are only in our late 20’s and covered in quite a few tattoos. Either way, he was just about the epitome of terrible customer service. Condescending, unhelpful, etc. He essentially chastised us for not making wine tasting bookings ahead of time & I simply wanted to exit the conversation as quickly as humanly possible while remaining cordial. He was able to EASILY make us bookings on the first two tasting rooms he checked. So, I mean, he was successful ultimately but the attitude was unnecessary & clearly ill-placed. On another occasion, he was rudely talking to an employee helping us instead of simply speaking directly to us. Just, generally, insufferable. They still get 4 stars because I’ll chock it up to circumstance. Maybe he does not enjoy working through a pandemic. Which I respect. All hotel & food service staff are doing incredibly dangerous & amazing jobs. But, maybe call in sick for the week if you can’t manage some service, man. But every other staff member was perfect. No complaints whatsoever. I will say - our in-room spa did not work. I’m sure it would’ve been fixed promptly if we called. But, forgive me for not wanting to talk to the front desk during our stay. Everything said, I’m sure we were singled out a bit & mistreated for not being the standard customer. By a lone employee that does not represent the whole. I imagine most people visiting this hotel fall into an entirely different demographic & I truly believe every ounce of your stay will be wonderful. Ultimately, I recommend this hotel!
Really enjoyable stay
We stayed at the hotel for 3 nights with our 10 yr old to celebrate my husband’s birthday. We could not have asked for a better stay. Gorgeous and quiet and private and peaceful. Great location close to cafes and restaurants and parks. Decorations were subtle and magnificent the service was spot on. The pool was perfect and so was the food They had a great bottle of Stewart winery wine for us when we arrived and accommodated all our requests and more Definitely recommend this hotel
Heaven in Yountville!
Literally if I could give 10 starts I would! This hotel is amazing!!! So intimate, polished, just amazing. My husband and I stayed at Hotel Yountville to celebrate our 10th anniversary. I could live in our room forever. The beautiful layout, the warm fireplace, the quaint patio- it was perfection! We were able to take advantage of the Spa services and it was worth every penny! Best massage I think I have ever had in my life! HIGHLY recommend! The staff were all super friendly, answered any questions happily and made you feel so at home. The bikes were another fun perk! We loved taking a stroll through Yountville in the mornings! Overall, this hotel is perfect in every way.
Great hotel!
Stayed here for 1 night over July 4th after checking out of Vintage House (don’t go there!). Staff, especially Luciana, were very helpful & professional. Rooms are comfortable, great pool area & walkable to many restaurants.
