The only reason to stay in a basic hotel like this is for a night's sleep. But if a good night's sleep is what you need then i would advise you to avoid this property. First, it is right next to a busy road junction. You will hear cars accelerating away or just speeding past all night long. And secondly, the blinds on the windows are not fit for purpose - they simply dont cover the windows or block the light from entering (see photo) and this is just not acceptable in a room that is being sold for sleeping. The room was clean and equipped for food preparation but this is all irrelevant with no sleep quality. Avoid.

What is there to say about the Swiss Star Welcome Apartment..... - Arrived to a filthy and dusty room, cob webs hanging from the ceiling, food debris in the cupboards and room - Floor dirty, so you couldn’t walk around bare foot without collecting all the filth on your feet - Wrappers from food next to the bed on the floor and food wrappers and bottle lids in drawers - Cooking utensils sticky, dirty and coated with food deposits - Bathroom cup still coated in dried toothpaste - Shower plug has an overwhelming stink probably due to an cumulation of previous guests hair hanging off it - Cleaning and lack of hygiene is shocking - Terrible nights sleep when extremely hot due to no fan - There was no daily house cleaning as promised on our itinerary. - When we arrived, a permanent resident of the apartment saw us struggling to open the door so he let us in. We asked did he know which room we are in, he showed us on his phone my partners name, pointed to room 002 and then vanished up the staircase, assuming to his room. Great customer service! - No help from the manager or staff when emailed. - Hotels.com need to do more checks into who they allow on their sites. (I would be astonished if they continue to list this apartment on their site any longer.) Our Experience: We arrived at the apartment with the hopes that it may be the same as the photos displayed on the hotels.com site. That was not what we got when we arrived. The apartment had one electric cooker, one microwave, one dirty fridge, one tv without cable with loads of dust behind it (we should have had cable) no kettle (we were suppose to have a kettle in the room). The floors were dirty and we only found out at night time before getting into bed when our feet were black. My partner decided to email the staff with regards to the lack of cleanliness. We were promised by the staff that the next day house keeping will clean. They didn’t turn up the next day. We emailed again and promised house keeping would be there the following day(2nd day now)The house keeping staff turned up to only change the kitchen bin that was full. They didn’t sweep,mop, refill the empty toilet roll,or clean the bathroom or give us fresh towels. It seems the Owners of Swiss Star Welcome Home are happy and pleasant until they receive your funds and then from then on, there’s no customer service and to be honest they aren’t interested that we are unhappy with our filthy room. I would be mortified if someone was shocked by the cleanliness of my establishment and would immediately rectify the problems. 4th day into our stay, the cleaners came again and this time they changed the bin and have given us new towels and spread the bed. It’s an improvement, but still did not sweep the floors, or clean the cobwebs Or room. We have 1 more day, still no sign of the Manager.

Positives:. 1. stop from Zurich airport 2. Near a Co-op to buy food Negatives: 1. On top floor, with NO elevator. Sucks for 1st and last day. 2. No house keeping but you get early morning house keepers cleaning other guest rooms that have checked out. They bang and clang. 3. Toilet seat broken, water heater pot broken, leaks while you boil water. Complained but they do nothing. 4. Wifi sucks. Drops regularly. See photo. 5. Loud traffic noise with window open and with church bells rings every 15 minutes and huge loud clanging on the hour ALL DAY AND ALL NIGHT. NEED EARPLUGS. I only had 1 mosquito so not bad. Keep window shut die of asphyxiation. Church is right behind your room. I didn't see a heater and would worry about how cold the room would be I. Winter. Oh btw, Schnitzel restaurant next door makes the worst food. Avoid.

Stayed 2 nights. Nice and clean apartment. Traffic noise was disturbing. No elevator. No reception. No service. No breakfast. Key through pincoded box. Walking distance (700 m) to Zürich Messe. If you fancy Schnitzel, there is a restaurant across the road. 20 mins by tram to Zürich.
