Visit at Emory & Henry

We have stayed at this hotel multiple times and have ways been happy with the room. Covid makes things more difficult with room cleaning after check in, but service and room cleanliness upon arrival has always been good. Rates are reasonable and last stay we were upgraded to a very nice suite with a kitchen.
There are Plenty of Other Options in Abingdon

Our stay was fine, but our interaction with the manager, Jamie, on our last day was not. We requested a late checkout - preferably for 1:00 PM but said that anything would be helpful. The manager said that they could not do it because they were sold out for the upcoming night and needed to clean the rooms. I explained why we were requesting the late checkout and again asked if she could please just give us a little extra time. She again said no but then said that they could if we paid for an extra night. So suddenly the room cleaning wasn’t so pressing. And what if we then decided to keep the room for this extra night? What would happen to the person who supposedly had the room booked for the upcoming sold-out night? Two problems with her response. First of all, when a guest with elite status gets a late checkout it is supposed to be without charge. Second, upon getting off the phone with her I did a search for the upcoming night and found that the hotel was not even close to sold out. Only the accessible rooms had limited availability, and we were not in an accessible room. The good news - there are plenty of other hotels in Abingdon. So while we stayed at the Comfort Suite twice this summer for a total of six nights, our next visit to Abingdon will be at another hotel.
Unprofessional staff, lukewarm shower
Reviewed 31 july, 2021
The shower in the room was only lukewarm. I called the frost desk, and they came upstairs to check the water temperature. This ticks me off to begin with, because they are essentially saying that they don’t believe me. The employee comes to the room and says that the extremely lukewarm water temperature is normal. She said she could move me to another room, but that was the normal water temperature, so it would be the same in the other room. As any sane human being would do, I said there was no point in moving if that’s all I was going to get, but I would expect a significant discount on the room. She said I would need to speak to the manager in the morning. In the morning, the water was still cool, so no shower for me. I wish I had thought to do this the night before, but I reach over to check the sink…totally hot water. So that water temperature wasn’t normal…there was something wrong with the shower, and the clerk had just convinced me not to change rooms the night before. I go downstairs and learn that she put in the computer that she offered me a different room, but I declined. She conveniently omitted the fact that she told me a different room wouldn’t make any difference. The manager told me that water temperature was subjective, so I offered to go to the room with her to get her “subjective” opinion. She refused, saying she didn’t have the time. They gave me a slight discount, but the room was still way too expensive for no shower. Simply put, the staff is unprofessional, and I would recommend going to another hotel.
Very adequate and clean

One of the nicer Comfort Inns. Rooms are pleasant and clean. Unfortunately, this motel is not located near any major restaurant chains. Negatives: hot tub was out of order and morning desk clerk seemed out of it. But I'd stay here again.
I really like this hotel; good experience

I really like this hotel; really clean and my room was roomy and nice. They have good Wi-Fi and they also are serving the full breakfast that they served before COVID changed everything. I would stay here again.
