Personal service
Lovely base for a stay in Agios Nikolaos. We stayed during a time when there were quarantine rules in the UK, so I think it was a lot quieter than it normally would be. We were upgraded to a sea view and the Covid health precautions were the best out of the seven other places we’d stayed on our tour of Crete. The room was simple, clean and felt spacious. Our balcony was lovely with a view of the the hotel’s well maintained front garden with fruiting palms and the sea beyond. The pool area was clean and not very busy, likewise the bar was a nice addition to have a drink in the evening before a short stroll into town. Personally I like staying out of town as I like walking but the hotel organised taxis for other guests who preferred to be driven in. The only food we had was breakfast which was varied and plentiful. Being British I’m sad to say a stereotypical highlight was being served a proper cup of tea after two weeks of being given hot water and a teabag on the side (travelling guilty pleasure). Everything was considered and done with attention to detail.
MIRABELLO SEA VIEW
Cleanliness according to rules for COVID, great sea view, very good location close to taverns, shops and beaches on foot, delicious home made breakfast, friendly service. Quiteness, serenity, wonderful views to the gulf, free parking space, hospitality and people ready to accomodate special guest needs.
would not return
it is only a 2 star hotel but looks much nicer from outside. i booked a ocean view room quite a few months before we arrived and requested a room on the highest floor overlooking the bay. it was a two night stay and the second night was my birthday and asked for a room with the best view. we were put on the second floor and our view was of a couple of palm trees and very little of the bay. rooms are very small and dull, balcony is very small with table and two chairs and not much room for two people to sit. air conditioning compressor for rooms is also on the balcony which takes up more room, is noisy and blows warm air onto the persons back who is sitting in front of it. seems like most of the guests were loud drunk British tourists who did not care about other guests that were trying to sleep and not at the outdoor bar all night. hotel is almost in the middle of nowhere with two cafes down the street, the hotel serves breakfast but no other meals. our two night stay was two nights to long
10 days in crete

Great value & personal
We've been here many times & we've always been really, really pleased with everything: the cleanliness, the service, helpfulness and friendliness are superb. We have been coming for 15 years & the quality is all still great. The staff have all been here for a long time showing their commitment to making this hotel good. Jeanette runs the snack & drink bar & she is brilliant. She makes this place. She offers anything from toasties & bacon butties to pizza & chips. She gives everything the personal touch & if you have special requests she will go that extra mile to try to sort it. The bar has happy hour 6-8pm with good deals on drinks & Jeanette makes fab cocktails. The night man is very lovely, he always offers us cold water for bed. He always says Kalinychta & wishes our 4 year old a good sleep, which she loves. Both George's man reception & are always welcoming & helpful. Without us asking they moved our room as they thought we may prefer more space, they have found us extra bedding when needed & always order us taxis. When we have had issues they have always taken them seriously & always tried to sort them out. The cleaners are amazing, they pay great attention to detail even wiping skirting boards & door handles. They move furniture in the rooms to clean the floor properly & they always make us smile with the inventive ways they fold our daughters blankets, pyjamas and place her teddies on her bed. If we see them they always chat to us & give our daughter particular greetings making our stay extra special. There are very few hotels in ag nik with pools & this is why we continually return to the Lato. The area surrounding the pool offers sunny & shady spots & there are plenty of sunbeds available. The pool has a shallow end & in the deep end there is a ledge around the edge which is great for children. The hotel is located about a 20 minute walk from town but this is a lovely flat walk along a promenade that has great views & there are plenty of bars & restaurants to stop at along the way. A taxi to town is only €6 & they are very efficient. In town you will find a beautiful lake, a harbour, a marina & plenty of shops, bars & good restaurants with a local feel rather than 'English'. The nearest supermarket is less than 10 minutes walk offering good prices & all you need. The beach is about 5 minutes walk offering good snacks, drinks, sunbeds & watersports. In sum the hotel is great value for money, clean, friendly & everything you may desire is nearby.
