Great lunch, terrific staff and your gateway to the turtles
I'm writing this review as a day, better say afternoon visitor. We didn't stay at the hotel, so cannot comment on this, but from what we experienced as day guests it must also be great. The hotel is right on the beach, at the secluded Akumal bay, spared from big waves by a coral reef. When entering all Covid measures were enforced (temp. check, sanitazers, staff wearing masks,...). We were escorted to our table in their open air restaurant, literally few steps from the beach. I'm sorry I forgot our waiter's name, who served us with smile and making jokes with kids. All the meals which we took to share were delicious, generous in portion and reasonably priced for such a location. These were accompanied with some beers and tasty (not sparing) cocktails. Before and after the lunch, we were able to snorkel and see the turtles and you can also opt for a guided official tour from the Dive shop next door.
Perfect Safe Getaway!
We usually rent a condo on Half Moon Bay. This is the 1st time in 30+ years we’ve stayed on Akumal Bay. We rented a bungalow (half a duplex), part of Villas Maya, owned by Hotel Akumal Caribe. It consisted of 1 room, king bed, full-size fridge (which broke, though was promptly replaced_}, microwave, toaster over, 2-burner hot plate, coffee maker, kitchen sink, dining table. chairs, and bathroom. We looked out on a courtyard of other duplexes, no sea view. But we were just behind Lo-Ha and the dive shop, so we were less than a minute from Akumal Bay, with no parking problems—and no all inclusive. We shared an enclosed patio, with table/chairs, with the other, unoccupied duplex. The staff were all very helpful. All linens, kitchenware, etc. were sealed (covid-safe). We felt very covid and personally safe. Easy walk to several restaurants, local shops. And best of all, easy to swim with turtles and rays, and tropical fish, just out the door and across the beach. And no parking fees because we could walk!
The Best Service I Have Had Anywhere
I stayed here dor 8 nights, the staff was attentive and accomodating, you could not ask for more. During TS Gamma the staff was greatly concerned about my safety and comfort, they brought food to my bungaow for me and called me several times to make sure I was ok. The service along with the beauty of the resort will ensure that I will return in the future.
Inviting & beautiful beautiful beach hotel with 5 star service.
This hotel is an amazing gem on the Yucatan coast. When checking in, you're greeted by Barth - who is probably one of the nicest humans on the planet. Every covid19 protocol was met or exceeded. The grounds are lush, the pool well maintained, and the views specular. The hotel room was exceptional clean, and the patio views gorgeous. Every staff member we encounter were exceedingly nice and welcoming. Definitely a must go vacation during and after Covid19.. We're already planning our next vacation there.
Welcoming stay
We recently spent two nights here and really enjoyed the property! The safety and cleanliness measures they have installed are very reassuring! From the minute you step onto the property you are offered hand sanitizer and a mat to wipe your shoes, they misted our suitcases with disinfectant and then we headed to a very nice corner, ocean front room! Two balconies and a nice king sized bed, a small kitchenette area and a bathroom with a walk-in shower. Masks are required for all guests and employees - and a “Safety Bag” was in out room with multiple PPE items. The only thing we were surprised about was that the room didn’t have a tv! Normally that might not bother us, however at this time of Covid, the snack bar restaurant and bar closes at 8:00 pm and the area outside of the property pretty much closes up too! We found ourselves strolling around but missing that option of just chilling with a tv. The restaurant that was open is the causal Lol Ha one and that provided us with great food and adult beverages. The beaches as of now are still closed to the public, however, hotel guests may use the beach, so needless to say, it is very quiet and relaxing right now. The pool area is beautiful with loads of lounge chairs, and employees are always raking and cleaning the grounds. The Gift shop and Buddha Spa are both open as well as the Dive Shop for snorkeling tours and there are some groups utilizing that service, but not nearly as many as in the pre-Covid times! The fishing boats are also ready for hire out front. If you’re on the fence about traveling, rest assured that the safety measures are in place here! The employees are very friendly and seem so happy to have visitors enjoying their hotel and facilities. It truly is a fantastic time to enjoy some peace and quiet time in Paradise!
