Buen Internet
What a dump!

So disappointed. We stayed here a few years ago (pre COVID) and our stay was nice. We went back the other day and were completely disappointed.
We changed rooms (we ordered a room w refrigerator for medication) and the room did not have a refrigerator. Rooms dark and cave like (where once eas bright). Paint peeling on door trim. TV did not work. Toilet overflowed due to plumbing issues. Breakfast was sparse. No yogurts in fridge where stated yogurt. The juice machine was broken.
Oh and the rate I was quoted $106/night became $179/night.
You could not pay me to stay here ever again. Nope! Pass. We almost left after check in and figured what’s one night.
We grad the people above us come home, shower etc. the place is so rundown.
I would Zero on rating above but it requires one.
Yuck!!!!!!! So gross.
Not taking safety measures at all!

Positives: The room was fine and the beds were very comfortable. Front desk staff was fine.
Negative: When we arrived the hotel had signs posted that the local area was requiring face masks to be worn indoors in public places. In the three nights that we stayed there only once desk clerk was wearing a mask and almost none of the guests were. I get it that we all have covid fatigue, but if you post a sign like that please do what you are asking us to do.
Odd location, dated property, useless staff

Stayed here 2 nights on a leisure trip. Not entirely sure what enticed me to stay here other than it's a safe location with good restaurants and shopping nearby. The hotel is probably the unsafest thing about this entire area (Algonquin/Lake in the Hills) - there appears to be homeless people living at the hotel, eating the breakfast all morning. Their cars were parked in the lot outside for several days which makes me think they are jobless / living at the hotel. Not welcoming.
I had booked two separate reservations because IHG.com does not let you book points/ cash combined up into one. The front desk staff refused to do a multi-night check in saying I'd have to come back down and check out / in. Didn't work for my plans, I've stayed at many many IHG's and never had this issue.
The front desk staff also seemed to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol potentially since they didn't activate my keys when they gave them to me, had to come back down and get it done.
Overall it's a very very dated property with old furniture, the bathrooms are old (the toilet wasn't even straight lol), broken shower ring on the shower curtain. In need of repairs.
The good: comfy beds and nice pillows. The rest, doesn't make it worth it.
Safe place to stay, updated rooms, helpful staff

During my stay here in Algonquin, I really appreciated the staff that went out of their way to make my stay pleasant. The housekeeper was especially professional to quickly get in and out to clean my room when I requested. This was a safe, quiet place to stay, within walking distance to plenty of shopping, Target, Kohl's and a great restaurant nearby, Syrup.
