Tiny But Tidy

We got a great price on this room. It was compact but clean (except for the stained carpet everywhere). Very convenient location. We walked one way to a sports bar to watch a college game and the other way to Cracker Barrel. Internet was slow but worked enough to take care of a couple things. I gave it 4 stars because the carpet is pretty bad. Bobby at the desk was friendly and efficient.

This is one of our favorite Choice Hotels, but if it doesn’t step up and stop using the pandemic as an excuse for inferior service, we’ll be looking elsewhere. Sleep Inn has fantastic teas, especially the nighttime one for sleep. The night clerk reluctantly looked for some upon my request but obviously had no idea where the supplies were located. The brown bag breakfast was a joke! If an Econo Lodge can provide a self-serve, full hot breakfast by now, Sleep Inn needs to step it up. The lodging industry requires paying customers. If I can’t get a hot breakfast with my Choice lodging, I might as well stay at Motel 6.
Horrible hotel experience.

Terrible check-in, the girl at the counter didn't acknowledge or even look at us for five minutes until I asked if someone else was available to check us in. The first room she gave us hadn't been cleaned: towel on bed, overflowing trash, something gross on desk. Gave us another room that had the heater set to high. This is Amarillo in the dead of summer. Took two hours for the room to cool down enough to sleep in. Dirty carpets, no elevator, never saw another person at the front desk and the call-bell didn't work. Horrible experience. Working on getting a refund.
Made my feet dirty

I left one terrible hotel only to go to this mediocre hotel. The fire detector was missing from the ceiling and the carpet was very dirty, I had to wash my feet as they were dirty from the carpet. They did not even try to serve breakfast as most hotels in Texas are doing now. Disappointing.

We score on 1-10, with 10 being the best. Bed, linens and shower-8 Pillows-10 Cleanliness-7 The pros were: location, good A/C, and parking for trailers. The cons: shower head, Wi-Fi, breakfast, missing light bulbs, very small room. There was a Cracker Barrel next door, so that was a bonus. The Wi-Fi was sketchy.
